am soooobored, my house is a tip and i have had to put the girls in the boys room to sleep and the heating pipe under the floor burst and the girls room is soaking wet, we had to vax the water out the carpet and then put the dehumidifier(sp???) on to try and help dry it out. as you can imagine there is not much sleeping going on and charlie decided to cover himself and his cot in poo WHY ME????
so i have cleaned it all and put him in an empty cot, no toys, covers nothing. dont worry ill give him covers when i go up but had to get away before i went mad. so am now sitting here in the dark as my fuse has gone for downstairs lights (im a girl and cant fix it:P) and i want to cry??

amazed you only felt like crying caz! even just one of those things would have me wailing! Hope little erin slept well, I sometimes feel more able to cope in the morning;)

have you ever seen sunjars btw? If you live in a house where the electrics are a bit temperamental they can be a Godsend!

yesterday I went to the first of a 6 week new parent group run by health visitors, it was on dental health and sleep. They're also going to do heartstart, weaning, baby massage, safety...

I don't know if they meant it, but they said they were open to ideas of other topics to cover. I'm tempted to suggest money saving and budgetting with a baby. A few of the women asked me about fergus' 'real nappies' as they were shocked at the costs of the disposables, also one mum had never heard of freecycle!

It was quite intense cos there were 20 mums, all the babies, 4 hvs a dental nurse...

    but I'm glad I went :D

    feelie, hugs for you :(

scruffy hope you feel better after the unpleasant incident with the neighbour ;)

I think it will be a way to know some more mums, and certainly the heart start course really appeals to me. We have a tommee tippee sensor mat that sits under fergie whilst asleep to monitor his breathing and movements, but I've often said to OH that's great, but would we know what to do if the alarm went off!?

Weaning is interesting too, especially how quickly solids can be used to replace formula.

I hope you enjoy the group if you do go emlou :)

I also thought of it as good exercise as it's about a half hour walk with fergie in the sling (he's quite a lump now!) so there and back was good going!

LOL re our chat about outfits, some of the mums like me were clearly the just put them in a babygro types, whils others had gone to enormous lengths, dungarees, polo shirts, socks baseball boots... all on a 10 week old, I was very impressed!

Once Elliot was a couple of months old, we started putting him in 'normal' clothes. Nothing restrictive though, soft trousers and tops etc. Now obviously he has all sorts of outfits lol.

I have missed my usual mom and baby group for the past two weeks due to half term and voting (they don't let older kids in, and usually shut over half term anyway). Looking forward to going this week :)

I'm doing my bit for Charity tomorrow, doing the Big Toddle :) I've posted a link on facebook, if anyone is interested. It's for Banardo's.

Got back from Turkey last night and haven't caught up yet, so congrats to any babies who've arrived and *hugs* to those who need them.

Had a fab time and a fornight of hot and sunny days. Our room was a disabled room, so our balcony sloped down into the pool area, right next to the baby pool. It was great for Charlotte and meant she could have her nap in bed on an afternoon and we took turns sitting outside on the balcony so we could hear her, but were still close enough to be involved with the poolside stuff.

The baby pool was just 35 cm deep, so she's had a great time splashing around in there with other toddlers.

The hotel food was lovely - all proper Turkish food rather than touristy food. We've eaten loads and Charlotte really enjoyed it. The Turkish people adore children, so she's had countless hugs and kisses from waiters and barmen. She encouraged it too - the little tart :D

Boys made friends with other children so went off and did activities with them or just played in the pool and generally hung around. Hubby and me did a lot of chilling out which was welcome as the last year has been tough.

Had a few trips out and enjoyed them and saw friends that we made in bars and shops last year. Had such a good time, we want to go back again now!

Back to reality now, tackling the laundry mountain and need to pop to Tesco.
Here I go again on my own....

Keely snap we are doing the big toddle today too, although it would be more accurate to say I will be doing the big toddle!

We went to rhyme time at the library yesterday for the first time and there were 24 babies under one there!

I've also been going to a post natal group run by the health visitors, I would say to all you first time mums to definitely go, you meet people with babies the same age and you get useful information about topics like weaning etc and you get to know your HV's better.

Scruffy, yes I was trying to post a pic, I'll try again

I never got offered any post natal groups? Rather crap here it seems. I just get asked a million silly questions by the HV.

Good luck for today then, im hoping it doesn't rain too heavily when we go tomorrow to do it! :D

i'm guilty of baby jeans and t shirt... they're so cute! lately he has been in a vest and shorts and my nan keeps saying he looks better cos he looks like a baby!! apart from anything, sleepsuits just dont fit him properly at the moment, 0-3 are too small and 3-6 hang off his feet still! i think i will go as the weaning advice will be helpful, it says ours will cover weaning, safety and dental health so maybe you get a bit extra with yours? jammy ;)

keely, good luck with your big toddle, hope you dont get too rained on!

becles, i'm jealous and glad you had a good holiday :)

this morning seth has discovered mummys hair is fun to pull on... joy... and he has developed a weird looking white thing on his top lip, no idea what it is but we're seeing the nurse later for the 2nd set of jabs  so will ask her then. the calpol is at the ready...

snap! we've got 2nd jabs too this afternoon! emlou i read that sucking dims a babies pain perception, so I'm going to try him this time with a dummy during the jabs...

about the white thing, is it his milk blister? right in the centre of his top lip? It's very normal and doesn't hurt him if so :)
