Feely - call your HV - I've finally seen mine today and now have some idea of what they're there for :) Call them and make sure she comes out today! They are there to help you and support you and they will have someone they can call if they are not trained to help with PND - whether or not you have PND or it's your previous problems it doesn't matter - they will know who to call or put you in touch with!
As for your OH - I don't think I have managed to read all the post since having Alexandra so not sure what exactly he's said/done - but given the situation then I think it was always likely that he'd have some sort of reaction after the baby arrived? He could just be being a twerp but he could also be struggling to handle things - even more reason to speak to HV and get some independant help for yourself before you start wondering about why he's saying/doing what he is. And it COULD be that it's all just getting too much for him or he may even have PND... blokes can get it too... :)

Right - well morning started with call from HV - asking how we were etc and turns out that my details hadn't been handed over properly to HV hence it's been 8 days since we were discharged from MW till we heard from HV... apparently it shouldn't have been... hohum.
After a long night with a very grumpy baby I was not totally awake so just agreed she could come out at 2 if she wanted :)
Well - she's very nice and it turns out that I'm not holding baby wrong when BF, or doing anything else majorly incorrectly... Roo has oral thrush and I probably have it too on the nipples hence the pain and grumpy baby as her mouth probably hurts her poor wee mite... HV is trying to pin a GP down at the surgery for me to get us a prescription for something for both of us for the thrush - although looking at the clock we won't be able to pick it up till tomorrow now anyway *sigh*
As we seem to be able to BF and bottle feed EBM she's suggested we just bottle feed till we've had a chance to treat the thrush to make it easier and only BF at night in bed - thankfully my little porker seems to have no issue accepting food from any source and it's just this thrush that is causing us so much pain :(
Anyway - for 2 weeks and 3 days she's doing great weightwise! 4.02kg! So since she was born she's gained 335gr despite it being painful for her to eat and me having to express loads to keep her happy :)
She's currently sat in her baby carrier on daddy's belly whilst he's playing x-box - I'm sure child services would have something to say if they saw her but she seems very content and it gives me a brief break! :)
Off to express some more! :)

Any idea's on where to get some nice bibs from that don't cost loads?
primark :D or BHS or next, we got lots given to us from BHS and next when seth was born, the BHS ones have a popper that does up on the side which is handy to take off.

thats exactly where seth spent his first 3 weeks of life while OH was off work, and where he spends most of OH's days off :rotfl:

Nice HV dropped off the meds for us bless her - one of them claims to be for athletes foot tho and the other states not to use on under 4 month old babies??
So just waiting for a call from my school friend who's a pharmacist to check they're ok to use despite being prescription and from chemist lol - i trust no-one me ;)

i dont think half of them really know what they're talking about dose wise, my doctor gave me 45 sachets of infant gaviscon and told me it was a two week trial - what baby do you know that has 45 feeds in two weeks? he ran out in 1 week! athletes foot is caused by the same fungal bacteria as thrush though so that one might be ok!

    Great idea MFD.

Have had a good day at work - only 2 more to go! Have even managed to (mostly) pack my hospital bag this weekend and make a list of the stuff I'm missing, so am feeling a bit organised. I've written a birth plan which I can discuss with the consultant and have copies of a case study about waterbirths in Fife and the joint statement from the Colleges of Obstetrics and Midwifery on birth in water, which does not rule out giving birth in water after having had a c-section, so I'm feeling all empowered! Thanks Weezl for your invaluable research.

Mrs T - you are lucky with your HV. How nice of her to sort the meds out for you.

MrsT, I guess you have daktacort for you and daktarin oral gel for the lo? We had those as well! (Well, I think we went through all of them!) Have lots and lots of probiotic things that'll help get rid of it

Fritha - yes the oral gel is for ickle one and the athletes foot stuff is for my boob - DH finds it hillarious that my nipples are being treated for athletes foot *sigh*
Spoke to my mate who's a pharmacist and she says both are fine - nearly all meds for infants say not to use for under 4 months old as they haven't been tested and licensed on very young infants - just near impossible to get anything licensed for them mainly... But she's happy for me to use it and I trust her :) Ditto the cream for me - as she said it's the same ingredients and it was probably just a case of time of day and that was the branded version the pharmacy carry - as they all do the job they often just buy the cheapest one to do all the jobs - it's all fungal and it's all the same really so should be fine :)
I love having friends with jobs I can ask stupid medical questions lol (don't get me wrong I go to the GP for the diagnosis but it's handy having her to just put my mind at rest :) )

And yes - after the less nice MW having a lovely HV is a dream come true :) She really was lovely and it was so nice of her to drop off my meds on her way home bless :)
