Morning all - guess who slept through last night! I didn't manage to, but never mind. After I posted on here last night Izzy woke up again when I was about to go to bed at 8:30 and she was baking hot, but a bit of calpol seemed to help. Then she didn't wake up till about 6am. No temperature this morning, if anything she is a bit cold (I think I have a temperature instead though just what I need!) but still quite grumpy and clingy. I'm distracting her with the hobbs at the moment, while I eat my breakfast.

Anyway, time to sort out washing ... don't have time to be ill today!

What I haven't read is that they MUST try to recruit a job-sharer.

    Precisely.

Plus, wrt what I've bolded, they could well call your bluff. How many of us / our partners actually WILL hand in our notice if we can't get the hours we want, in a labour market where it's not easy to find another job?

Ok SavvySue shall we agree to disagree, else this'll end up on DT! :) I wasn't being argumentative, hence using a smiley when I asked before, I hope that came across. I just think we do have more rights as parents now the government has made some changes to our entitlements and I hope lots of parents will be prepared to assert these rights. I didn't intend to be overly controversial.

Lu, how are you feeling today? Still twingy or sommat more promising?

Ladybird, glad izzy slept through, clever girl!
    :)

BrunoM hope your OH is feeling a little better and more human today, poor love :(

    Love to all,

    Morning all

Has Elle come out with Rhys yet, or is it this coming week? - I have lost track!

    Ouch - Mrs T.......

Caz - All I can suggest is maybe just giving Erin a little bit of food AFTER she has finished her milk feed, just to 'top her up'. That way at least you know she is getting enough milk. If she is wolfing it down and then seems happier...maybe she needs it:)

All is well in the red house....well it is now anyway. Kai had been going through a funny patch where he wouldn't sleep! Seems a bit better now and slept till 6am today. He has also taken up squealing, it is quite funny (apart from when he decided to do it at 6.30am today!). He mostly does it when in his door bouncer, he jumps around like crazy squealing/shouting and laughing (I love it:D)
He loves his food, and seems to prefer savoury over sweet.

Yesterday I was looking on Facebook, on my sisters friends page, she was saying how happy she was to be having a quiet day as Harvey (her 7mth old baby) has gone out for the day with 'Auntie Sammy'.....she was referring to my sister.
she is not Harvey's auntie, Sammy has THREE nephews....MY KIDS, who she barely ever sees, and has never taken on days out. I was a bit upset about this really, although I am probably just being over-sensitive. It also became apparant how little my family bother with me, as I don't even know my mum's address?!? (despite having asked for it a few times) I won a baby walker on eBay, and thought my mum lived close to it so asked her to pick it up...turns out she lives 25miles away from the place!!!!! Anyway moan over....

On a different note our PS3 broke last night after dh having just bought about 10 new blu-rays and games for it!

Nope, still here [the hospital]. Today is finally Day 56 which means Rhys is having his first set of jabs at midday once the doctors have checked him over. He's been perfectly well so no reason to think he won't have them. Then they put him back on the monitors (chest pads and glowing foot probe as seen in early piccies) for 24hrs, then as long as he's okay he's free to go. Will be having blood tests tomorrow so we're not actually leaving until the results have been reviewed by the doctors and any prescriptions changed so going home Tuesday lunchtime, we think :)

Not been online much as have been racing around trying to get the house sorted. My sister is visiting this morning, then more work on the house, then going out for a birthday meal with my Grandad tonight (his 81st birthday). Carpets fitted tomorrow and futon rescued from the back of the spare room so we can sleep in the living room (our bedroom has been a dumping ground for the last three months), then a big shop to stock the kitchen so that we don't have to leave the house for a week :D OH is only taking Tues-Sun off work next week as he's already used up a lot of his holidays when Rhys was first born.

Slight drama about where Rhys is going to sleep.. Cotbed, crib and travel cot all ordered and none have turned up yet!
Cotbed - ordered at Baby Show day before Rhys was born, delivery arranged for 6th July, phoned on 7th to find out where it was to be told it was out of stock!
Crib - ordered last Sunday for next day delivery (so Tues) with a promise from the seller (merchant on eBay) that i would be contacted if it wasn't in stock on the same day I ordered it. Didn't show up and when I got in touch they said it was out of stock but coming in on Mon so should be with me on Tues!
Travelcot - ordered on Friday (along with a bouncy chair, both for Mum's house) on next day delivery so should be here on Monday.. fingers crossed!
Otherwise, he's sleeping in his pram! :o

Right, enough waffle, going to see how heavy the not-so-wee-dinky-one is now :)

Hope everyone has a good day xx

Weezl - I think it's a good thing to discuss the part tiem etc and rights on here :) And I don't think anyone thought you were being argumentative :)
Whilst there are more laws and rules in place now than ever protecting parents in the UK we are miles from the rights we have in countries like Denmark (12 months maternity leave BUT several months of paternity leave too - and the last 6 months of paternity leave can actually be taken by the dad if you want. If you really wanted you could do alternate months between the parents...)
In Denmark though the whole system has been set up to cope with people taking maternity leave and paternity leave, in the UK sadly I think we're trying to trickle feed it in and it can have huge impacts on businesses - especially given the current economic climate. Any additional costs to a company could make or break small businesses right now.
I think often people forget that "demanding" things could potentially have huge implications not only their job but also that of others. I had people going on materntity leave when I ran a large team and wanting to return on part time hours - I wanted to turn it down because finding people with the right skill set and languages etc who could cover those days was impossible. The company were too scared to listen and agreed... the hostility towards the person on part time hours became immense! Because we couldn't find someone with the right skills we had to make do without that resource on 2 1/2 days a week - that meant it affected people taking holiday as I had a minimum cover that had to be in place in case of illness and come Christmas and bank holidays etc only one person from that team could take holiday now because the part time person wouldn't be there to pull their weight. To say it had a negative impact on the working environment is an understatement! I ended up having to separate grown adults to different corners of the open plan office and putting my desk in the middle of the room to keep waring fractions apart...

I present a number of business reasons for why the role couldn't be part time but in a small company they weren't well enough versed in HR matters and were frankly scared...

When I return to work I will probably have to return full time, but my "flexi" part will be how much I work from home... I've had this battle with my boss before and there is no reason I can't work from home pretty much 4 days a week - alas they are going to argue I need to be in the office to "network"... It will be fun :)

Caitlyn went to sleep about 9 last night downstairs and we transferred her straight to the crib about 12... She still didn't wake up until 4:30!! Think she's getting the hang of this sleep lark...

Hubby took her downstairs to change her nappy and give me half an hour this morning... When he bought her back she's pooped right out of the front of her nappy, there was litres of the stuff... And miraculously he hadn't noticed!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

    You are not weird.

Who was thinking all in one sleepsuits were a good idea for adult females on camping / caravan holidays? Either your pelvic floor is in a lot better state than mine, or you've not thought about middle of the night trips to the loo. :rotfl:

Plus you'll need big slippers to go over the feet. Well, I would. I can wander round most places without slippers, but not recently used bathrooms, and definitely NOT toilets with hard floors. Is that just because there's only men in this house apart from me?

hmmm - I won't use our en-suite without slippers on. Somehow my HUsband forgot his toilet training skills and tends to 'spill'. worse still he's forgotten where the dettol and cloths live:rolleyes: I'm so pleased I have a little girl. not sure I would have coped with another male :p

I'm so glad my hubby is trained! how on earth do you put up with them???
Comet delivered new fridge freezer at 8 (called at 7:30!) - it's had the doors swapped over by hubby and is now just waiting for the 4 hours before we can turn it on - something about the gas settling  - Hubby has gone down the allotment to finish the roof on my shed and a few finishing touches - then I can start putting important stuff down there like tools and a seat lol. Hoping to get down there later today if possible but weather might put paid to that :) We'll see... I wanted to at least plant my rhubarb and redcurrant bush :)
