I'm so glad my hubby is trained! how on earth do you put up with them???
Comet delivered new fridge freezer at 8 (called at 7:30!) - it's had the doors swapped over by hubby and is now just waiting for the 4 hours before we can turn it on - something about the gas settling- Hubby has gone down the allotment to finish the roof on my shed and a few finishing touches - then I can start putting important stuff down there like tools and a seat lol. Hoping to get down there later today if possible but weather might put paid to that
We'll see... I wanted to at least plant my rhubarb and redcurrant bush
Haha...well I do love his unpredictable nature, makes for an interesting life;) I must say in his defence....he has been soooooooo much better with this baby than the last one. He wouldn't even acknowledge Jaden existed.
We need a new freezer, preferably a super frost free one, ours is meant to be frost free but recently it is constantly iced up!

(I wonder why my previous post was all double spaced)

Nothing exciting going on here. Might try and persuade OH to go out for a walk later, then its dinner and a film.
I'm feeling a little sad and defensive today
Hows your day?
(Oh and talking of freezers, mine was so frosted up that I stuck it in the garage and bought a new one. I'm terrible, I really am.)Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

My day is boring, Jasmine is watching a DVD, Dylan is sleeping and OH is in bed as he was up all night, so I am sitting here all on my lonesome !!The two best things I have done with my life

Just a little stressed, the Pyschiatrist is coming to see me on Tuesday and I'm a bit nervous about that.
Off out for a walk in a minute, going to stop at Tesco and pick up a test on the way, fingers crossed for me!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

Ok SavvySue shall we agree to disagree, else this'll end up on DT!
I wasn't being argumentative, hence using a smiley when I asked before, I hope that came across. I just think we do have more rights as parents now the government has made some changes to our entitlements and I hope lots of parents will be prepared to assert these rights. I didn't intend to be overly controversial.
And I ask again, how many of us would take it further if the request was turned down? You might feel their reasons were discriminatory - "we don't have any men working part-time so we only respond to such requests from women" would be a prime example, BUT would you really want to go to tribunal?
My gut feeling is that if the employer says no to a well thought through request, your best bet is to look elsewhere.Whilst there are more laws and rules in place now than ever protecting parents in the UK we are miles from the rights we have in countries like Denmark (12 months maternity leave BUT several months of paternity leave too - and the last 6 months of paternity leave can actually be taken by the dad if you want. When I return to work I will probably have to return full time, but my "flexi" part will be how much I work from home... I've had this battle with my boss before and there is no reason I can't work from home pretty much 4 days a week - alas they are going to argue I need to be in the office to "network"... It will be fun
BTW, I changed my hours a few years ago from working school hours M-F to working a 'normal' day 4 days per week. It works, but only because when something crops up on my 'day off', I don't (generally) throw a hissy fit and say "That's my day off! I'm not doing that!" Now I know it's easy for me now because I don't have to worry about childcare, but if I DID have to worry about childcare I would politely point out that I needed adequate notice in order to be free on that day. I don't think I would even make a big thing about needing notice for childcare arrangements: there are 101 things ANYONE could be doing on their day off, which you can't necessarily just change.
feelie, I hope I didn't worry you by saying what I did, I really do think that if the boss asked your OH to consider p/t, it's half the battle!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Warrington seems to be my nearest - i'd like to go, but am a bit scared that it'll be all the hippy types who feed each others babies! I don't someone elses 5 year old coming along and lifting my top to help himself. :rotfl:(No offence intended to any hippy types who feed other peoples babies!)feelinggood wrote: »Just a little stressed, the Pyschiatrist is coming to see me on Tuesday and I'm a bit nervous about that.
