:hello:
Hi fellow mummys
Well I have made it over here at long last although it has taken 3 weeks to find the time!
For those who dont know me from pregnancy club, I gave birth to baby Leila Miriam on 16th June 2009. She is our first baby and definately not the last I hope!
She is currently spreadeagled at the end of the sofa waving her arms about in her sleep and squeaking intermittently. Think I am possibly on borrowed time before she wakes as I have just been expressing and i'm sure she can smell/sense it in her sleep as she always wakes up when i'm doing it.
I am loving motherhood even more than I thought I would. My hubby is just getting his confidence in handling Leila and although he watches/studies me changing her nappies and bath her etc he hasnt quite progressed beyond giving her a bottle, playing with her and rocking her to sleep. One step at a time though!
Leila is a very very hungry baby and I have had untold worries about her not getting enough mummy milk. I admit that I did give her some formula in the first week as I couldnt bear watching her little face screw up in hunger even after she has been on the breast for hours. She had her last night feed as formula for the first 1.5 weeks until my proper milk came through. I felt so guilty at first that I had succumbed so quickly but I was literally sitting on the sofa for 6 hours at a time with her attached to me and she was constantly hungry.
Anyway, I am now expressing which I give her for her last feed of the night about 1:00am. She then sleeps until 5:00am has a short feed in bed and then back to sleep until 7:30am. She then comes to bed with me at 7:30am and will sleep on my chest until 9:30am.
I have continued to give her formula on occasion if we go out for the day and I havent got any expressed milk but this works for us and her. I am hoping to phase this out when I have built up enough expressed milk to substitute it with.
Sorry, its turned into a bit of blow by blow account! With all the stigma about formula I havent felt able to tell anyone (apart from hubby of course) and just wanted to get it off my chest.

Hiya Mooki!! Welcome in!! Nice to see you here - I have seen the pics on FB and she is definitely a cutie!!
Don't worry about the formula...Benjamin has it occasionally and it doesn't negate any of the BF benefits. We have the odd carton here and there and it gives me a rest and he gets a massive feed rather than snacking from me.
As you say, it is what works best for you....ALL of you!
Looks like you are getting along fineplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Ooh. Forgot to say we have a holiday shortlist. It's down to two. A First Choice Holiday Village in Majorca or a set of lovely apartments with kids clubs and creche in Menorca. Just called Co-op Travel and they have beaten the direct tour operator price, and I haven't even done any haggling yet!
Just need this baby to arrive and then we can get it booked. Still no sign. Ho hum...
oh and I forgot to tell MIL that I haven't changed my passport to married name so now I have to fork out for a new one - booo hooo!My_Fathers_Daughter wrote: »
Oh and we had tuna AND cheese sandwiches today - not quite as wierd as last week but not your regular cold sandwich that's for sure.
Mooki - don't worry about giving formula! We don't do guilt in this clubI fed Chris formula from 2weeks and it's not done him any harm.
Is Leila tall? she looks really long on that photo, lovely dress too0 -
What is the sandwich maker's obsession with cheese??!!
It's vegetarian

mookie she is beautiful :T
SLS sorry you didnt get the night sleep you'd hoped for, reorganise it you will get there eventually. Im actually afraid to let DH do a night feed incase he falls asleep or somethingnot that I think he would be agreeable to it anyway.
DH freely admits that he is terrified of the new baby :rotfl: he wants to wait till she's a bit rounder and bigger before getting really involved. so far he has helped bring up wind and just kept an eye on her while I visit the loo. He says its because she is so small and makes him feel really nervous.
TBH she makes me feel really nervous too at times, I worry if she sleeps too long or gets really noisy hiccups or seems to have loads of dirty nappies, and im not sure whats going on with the BF, but sometimes she seems to be feeding for hours or else using me as a dummy.
She is abit Jaundiced as welland her belly button thing just fell off. I feel like a bundle of nerves at the best of times.
you would think by my 4th child I would be used to these things, but i've forgotten honestly0 -
evenin all!
hello mooki and congrats! She looks beautiful
Susan, many thanks for the spreadsheet. Have you decided to go BPA free so you can microwave? I thought it was ok in a bottle warmer, but might be being stooopid!
Also, I'm sure you've got v well thought through reasons, but your mattress looks quite pricey? Wondered what the thinking was there, we paid £19 so I'm wondering if I should've done more research!
Did you and Alice use the sling for a really long time? Your back is obviously stronger than mine! Can I be bold enough to suggest a little something extra in the form of vitamins and minerals for you, as your pregnancy was so rough last timeHope hols packing goes well. I hate packing
Well, today Fergie and I went to rhyme time at the newly refurbished cardiff central library, then cuppa with a new mum friend, then costco and asda with OH (afternoon off hoorah!) and made 4 loaves of bread now baking in oven. Also had home grown salad with my salmon for tea, so am feeling all 1950's housewifey and happy
hope you've all had lovely days, elle has the carpet man come yet?
Mrs. Tine, the no sleep part is horrid, but it will pass. I really hope you can rest a little in the days and keep your strength up. Hugs for you.:D
eta Mrs Moc, I think with a high risk pregnancy it's really natural to want to wrap them up in bubble wrap- no matter how many you've had before... Congrats BTW...
eta part 2, MFD what's with the cheese and tuna? Is big boobie still AWOL?
