    hello everyone :D

bumbo's - Annabel's great-grandpa bought her one at the weekend :D She really likes it :D It's pale pink and quite cute!

weaning - please don't shout at me, but we tried LO with some babyrice at the weekend. She is so hungry at the moment and watches every mouthful we eat and puts everything in her mouth. I thought she would spit it out, but she loved it and made no mess as she seemed to know exactly what to do with it! She's 16wks and I wanted to wait until 17wks, to follow the medical advice etc, but we've had no adverse effects. we'll not start properly until next week, but I've got all my bits organised and I'm quite excited. :D

I also got a small present from my FIL today - he had overheard me talking about wishing I had a cup holder for my bugaboo when he was over at the weekend - and the lovely man bought me one to day thank you for being such a good mum to his granddaughter. Did I mention I think my FIL is great :D

What a great FIL! Mine is just odd!

We got our Bumbo this week, bright yellow:eek:, but an ebay bargain with tray! She loves sitting in it looking around - and looks very proud of herself.

We're at the same stage - Violet is definately interested in food - really watching us eat, and drooling, and putting her fists in her mouth and chewing! She's also feeding a lot this week again - i fed her for two hours last night before she went up to bed! She'll be 17 weeks next Saturday (how did that happen!) so i'll get myself prepared this week.:j

Agreed - Lu-T, thats a lovely photo! I'd love to get someone professional to be able to take a nice pic of me!
I'm not pig-ugly (honest), but every photo of me catches me at a wrong angle/moment so I look drunk/asleep or just plain strange!

    Feelie

My DD at 6 weeks measured 53.5 cm. At 8 months measured 67cm. At 25 months she's 82cm tall so another shorty in the making.

A positive thing is that her clothes last her ages, she's still in 18-24 month trousers, most of which are too long still.

I had her in shorts the other day (6-9 months) her bum has disappeared now she's potty trained.

She's cheap on shoes, her feet haven't increased in size since last August.

She's so cute. I measured the mark on the wall we made last week, I turned my back and she stood there waiting to be measured with a really cute smile on her face.

Just had the second explosive nappy in 24 hours. He goes little and often, but also has the huge ones that go right down the legs and up the back! I'm at my Mums, so just bathed him in the big tub by myself! He loves the bath, goes all floppy and just lies there while I drip water on his belly. He is now led in his basket (can't go in the chair - that was a victim of the nappy!) all peaceful and quiet.

Having a pumpathon today, 6 sessions so far today! Mum thinks I'm a bit obsessive about it. I've got sheets of charts and graphs with all the information about my milk supply.

MadDogWoman - are your family all short? Mine are quite, I think we are all about 5ft 6. All the NCT ladies said he was a tiny baby, but he was 7lb 7oz, which is an average weight. He is like a little rubber ball - little but very solid!

    Yep all shorties

No one in my family is taller than 5ft 6, mum is under 5ft

I have an 12 year old nephew who is the height of a 9 yo he's teeny (5lb at birth), brilliant at rugby though he just ducks under them!

DD was 7lb 2oz when she was born but also put weight on really well, was 8lb 6oz at 17 days old. (BF)

I think your amazing with the expressing, I found it hard enough doing it once a day.

I found out yesterday that I have a short baby! He was 39cm at birth, not even on the WHO charts! He is now 53cm at 6 weeks. He is heavy though, about 10lbs! So he is a fat, short little thing. What were all your babies at birth, and last measurement?
Alice wasn't measured at birth but when the HV measured her at 10 days she was on the 75th centile and she's generally wobbled around between that and the 91st since then. I'm 5'8" but when I was a baby I was referred to the paedatric clinic at the hospital because I was short (3rd centile at 13weeks IIRC) and some of my cousins had a type of dwarfism. I was always one of the smallest at school up till about age 14/15 when everyone else stopped growing and I carried on.
I'm going out for a babyfree night with OH tomorrow. Hoping to talk a bit, show him that he is still important and its not just all about the baby. Fingers crossed. AM - would time for just the two of you help?
I hope (and am praying) that things will work out between you.
Am I the only one that is getting their baby weighed and measured regularly? We go every 2 weeks now, it was every week for the first 5 weeks.
I never went to get Alice weighed (HV visited at 10 days and 14 days and she got weighed at her 9 month development check) because I never felt I had any reason to. (Also the weighing clinic was at a very inconvenient time and apparently usually has big queues so really wasn't worth the hassle.) However I did (and still do) weigh by standing on the scales with Alice so I knew that she was doing okay weightwise. (She can actually stand on them herself now but she gets excited and dances up and down so it's not very accurate at all.) I was never worried about her weight as it was obvious she was healthy and thriving but OH tended to worry about it especially as I exclusively breastfed for longer than is usual and we did baby led weaning so I generally weighed her to reassure him that she wasn't wasting away.

feelie - when my sister was born she was considered a small baby - about 6lb weight, but not long. She was very small as a baby and the HV told my mum she would never reach a height over 4 ft 7inches (based on their final height calculations) - she's now 25 and is 5ft 2inches!
