feelie - Izzy was 54 cm when she was born. She's not been measured again by anyone but me... I measured her at 64cm a few weeks ago, but I also measured her at 64cm at 14 weeks, so not sure if I was right either time! If it was right the most recent time then she is about the 75th centile on height and weight, so all in proportion :)

  • I daren't even say Benjamin is being good :ohe slept for 8 hours straight again last night, woke ay 5.30am, fed for 30 mins and back down til 8.15am.

Hugs to all that need them.

Feelie - I made a special effort not to talk about the baby constantly the first time I went out with hubby...not so easy when that is all you have been doing for 5+ weeks :D

Nice to see you Keely - like the new avvy :D

Am I the only one that is getting their baby weighed and measured regularly? We go every 2 weeks now, it was every week for the first 5 weeks.

i'm here to join the crabby baby club, seth slept from 9-12 and then OH was up all night with him while i slept ;) apparantly every time he tried to put him back down he started thrashing wild limbs and wouldnt go back to sleep! OH always sorts him out at night if he isnt at work the next day, but he isnt off again til next thursday now  thats two nights in a row the little man has been unsettled and unsleepy now, i'm hoping thats it or come next thursday i'm going to be dead! i've told OH quite plainly that if he carries on and i'm exhausted then LO is going to come into our bed because i refuse to not have any sleep but he didnt look impressed, i dont care, needs must!! he might have a bit of a upset tummy though as he projectile vomited the entire contents of a bottle around 4pm yesterday and has done the same again 10am this morning, poor thing. it could also be because he is still in a moses basket and he is too big for it, he needs space to windmill his little arms around and when he bashes them on the sides it wakes him up. MIL was meant to be getting us a cot as a baby present cos she gave DSD's cotbed to her neice and we didnt know until we asked for it, we are going to see her later so will ask whats going on there!

also the csa have taken double what they should have out of OH's wages so we are Screwed with a capital S, we have £50 to spend on food for an entire month :eek::eek::eek:

another question, how do you think is best to switch formula? i'm using aptamil at the moment and going to switch onto hungry baby cos i have a very hungry baby lol, do you think its wise to just switch or should i do it a bottle a day and gradually ease from one to the other? or will it not matter cos its the same brand? he is very whingey and fractious at the moment and i dont want to make it any worse, i'm hoping the hungry baby will help to sort it out TBH.

i've only taken seth to the baby clinic once :o everytime i have taken him he has been spot on the average line and been feeding well so i havent really felt a need to. i had every intention of taking him this week but with the bank holiday and OH having random days off its completely thrown me! i will definitely be taking him next week, it will have been 3 weeks since he was last weighed then and he has been such a grump.

the HV did tell me they like BF babies to be weighed every other week though.

Ah - that's probably it em...although Benjamin is growing so much you could probably see it if he stopped still for long enough :D

He is constantly trying to sit up straight now. When he is in his car seat or bouncy chair he keeps thrusting his head forward and picking up his legs.

I am biting the bullet and getting him a bumbo today, his neck is strong enough and I think he will enjoy it.

Edit - sometimes I hold Benjamins hands when I put him down to sleep to stop him punching himself in the face and waking himself up. I let go when he is soundly enough asleep to go floppy. Might help Seth?

we do the hand holding thing too, he wakes himself up windmilling otherwise! going to have to start restraining his legs too i think as he has now worked out that if he slams his legs down it makes a noise and its hilarious apparantly

in other news, i have now decided my child looks like the ghostbusters staypuft marshmallow man!! :rotfl:

Emlou - Re changing milk - I think we just finished one box and started the new hungry baby one. It's more than 2 years ago though.

Imogen also woke herself up by windmilling her arms about. That's why she ended up in her own room by about 12 weeks. I'd def recommend moving LO to a bigger sleeping space - when you have one!

Caz - I'm a real insomniac. I find Herbal Nitol really help. They don't make me jittery or anything the next day and I drift off pretty easily and tend to sleep longer. Have you just got lots on your mind hon? I also heard (from a doc on the radio) that lying with your bum against the wall and your legs going up it (IYSWIM) will help you to feel sleepy. It's what they recommend for pro-footballers to help them wind down after a match. Something to do with engaging your diaphragm? Haven't tried it yet, don't think bump would be that keen!

Here we go again with the pics - thanks for the tip Sami

Right, am inspired to change my avi.

    hello everyone :D

sorry in advance for the long post.

Ladybird - are you following a weaning regime or book or anything with your LO? She sounds like she's ahving a great time!

Feelie - you are doing so well expressing so much. You are a great mum :D Annabel is absolutely average weight wise, but much longer than average height wise, making her a long and thin baby. Apparently that's how I was but while I'm still slim, I'm not tall at 5ft 4 - i think babies sort themselves out in time :D

    Krystal - congratulations again.

Lu T - what you said about reading and books pages back was like reading about myself. I think we are in the same field of work if I remember rightly from an earlier thread.

sleeping - I'm really lucky (don't lynch me!) LO is into a routine where she sleeps for approx 10hrs a night - not imposed by us I hasten to add! I found that she sleeps best when she's full. She didn't sleep at all when she was first born because she was so very very hungry.

bumbo's - Annabel's great-grandpa bought her one at the weekend :D She really likes it :D It's pale pink and quite cute!

weaning - please don't shout at me, but we tried LO with some babyrice at the weekend. She is so hungry at the moment and watches every mouthful we eat and puts everything in her mouth. I thought she would spit it out, but she loved it and made no mess as she seemed to know exactly what to do with it! She's 16wks and I wanted to wait until 17wks, to follow the medical advice etc, but we've had no adverse effects. we'll not start properly until next week, but I've got all my bits organised and I'm quite excited. :D

I also got a small present from my FIL today - he had overheard me talking about wishing I had a cup holder for my bugaboo when he was over at the weekend - and the lovely man bought me one to day thank you for being such a good mum to his granddaughter. Did I mention I think my FIL is great :D
