Hi all.. pleased to confirm mobile internet works better on this side of the corridor to the other one where we were before! :D

It's soooo scary!! :o I'm doing a day of all of his feeds and cares, then a day of learning and doing whilst accompanied all his medications, then a day of doing it all on my own, then we're off  In amongst all that, we've also got to do some first aid and resus training with the doctors, learn how to put his feeding tube back on for when he inevitably pulls it out and read a million and one leaflets.

We will have the community nurses coming in every day for a while then less frequently, plus have to come to the hospital twice a week minimum (Mon and Thurs) for blood tests and injections (hurrah, gotten out of us having to do that one as it's better to be done at the hospital so it's stored in the fridge all the time and checked by two nurses). Also got to sort referrals to (at last count) seven different depts who will want to see Rhys at various times over the next year. I've got a huge list of questions for the consultants tomorrow and for the meeting on Wednesday.

On my spending spree, I ordered the crib and bottles and teats online, then got sheets and blankets from Matalan and bath, cuddle towels and playmat from Mothercare. A tiny baby size going home outfit also just happened to fall into the basket too.. oops ;) Got some shorts and tshirts in Tesco too as I want to get some "daytime" clothes for now.. fed up of sleepsuits already - wanna see his cute little feet! :o

I've got to do the 2.30am feed then I can go to sleep as the nurse is doing the 5.30am feed - bless her :) Got to be up and spritly for the speech therapist coming at 8am. Hopefully Rhys will be awake too and wanting to show off his bottle sucking skills. He's put on weight again - now 4lb 14oz - so feeds have gone up to 45ml :)

Wish me luck for pleading with the carpet fitters tomorow to fit our living room carpet on Wednesday morning.. they wanted two weeks notice but I need it down before Rhys comes home, otherwise we have to go to my parents and we wanted to go home to our home! :o

Some good news for those of you as daft as me: if you hit the multiple quotes button but then close the thread, your quotes are still there if you open it right up again and hit the 'Reply' button! If that hadn't happened, you'd have lost the benefit of my wisdom, 'cos I doubt I'd have been compos mentis enough to go looking for all my quotes again!

Ps. the once a day sun cream is called P20 ;)
    http://www.p20.co.uk/
Yup, but Boots do one too! Actually seems they do several, including P20: see here. However I can't see any sun wipes on there, it is a long time since I saw any so I suspect they were discontinued, it must be quite hard to deliver enough active ingredient via a wipe. I only really relied on them for short periods on odd days, but for those days they were a real boon!

I've been virtual car hunting:) I haven't got the money till the end of Sept, but wanted to choose what type of car to look for. So I have been online browsing, trying to narrow it down:rolleyes:
Never too soon to look, IMO. It took us MONTHS! But I've been in my sister's (little) Merc today, and I'm jealous! :rotfl: It's a bit like a Tardis: small on the outside, but lots of legroom in the back and a completely flat floor! She says the Honda Jazz is quite similar. Not sure that the boot is that big, but while they're little you could easily fit an umbrella fold buggy on the floor at their feet.

    Hi there,

we got this fisher price doorway bouncer in the end, for £1 at the boot sale.

Also found a child's chair and paid £1 for that. And a wooden boat and lighthouse scene in bright colours with 4 pegs to hang stuff on for his room... for 90p

    good times :T:T:T

I've managed 2 and a half weeks of the handwashing and no dishwasher now. The good news is that it's reduced our energy use to 1/3rd what it was before in this quarter and 1/4 what it was last quarter when he wasn't here yet :) 62p a day of 'leccie rather than £2.64 so I'm well pleased!

Congrats elle on rhys coming home, I'm sure you'll learn all the stuff he needs doing brilliantly :)

susan did you see those beautiful pillowcase dresses on old-style? Not sure why but I thought of you and Alice when I saw them... Have you got a sewing machine? Any joy on the boot sale front?

Sami- still no leggins at the boot sale and viscose doesn't dye! My search continues! Debenhams have them for £3 in the sale but have sold out of size 10s :(

MFD I'm glad you and OH had a great time away :) I'm jealous!

What's everyone up to today? We have mum's group on weaning :)

You're braver than me keeping up with the handwashing. It's much too easy hoying it all in the machine :o I do wash dishes by hand though as we haven't got a dishwasher. I dropped that down to two lots to save money. I wait until the boys are in from school and wash the breakfast things, lunch things and their packed lunch boxes, and then Joshua washes up after tea.

Nothing exciting planned for today. Charlotte goes to a playgroup with my Mam on Mondays. It's in my old school and a few of my old school friends mothers and grandchildren go, so my Mam enjoys it as well as Charlotte :D

Got some calls to do for work and a uni essay to make a start on. It's social marketing so I've decided to tackle childhood obesity and write a healthy eating campaign for a primary school. I have to write a marketing plan to show how I'm going to implement it and monitor it.
Here I go again on my own....

Emlou, have you tried looking/asking on freecycle?
our freecycle is rubbish, theres about 10 requests a day for fridge freezers and the only stuff that seems to get offered is car boot bits! we acquired a load of furniture last week so i put our moses basket on there as we had no space, which annoyed me as i wanted to sell it, and i had 12 emails in 5 minutes asking for it! i gave it to the person with the nicest email and the woman turned up in a brand new 09 reg mercedes wearing a suit and her shoes definitely looked like jimmy choos  as if people like that need free stuff!

I got annoyed with my hubby this evening, after tidying up half the day and doing everything for Kai, as usual... I bathed him and then put him in his bouncy chair, which I then placed conveniently at dh feet;) I went up with the older two to oversee them getting bathed/PJ'd/Clean teeth etc...and after literally about 30secs dh came storming up the stairs and dumped Kai in my arms....apparantly 'he wouldn't stop whining':mad:
i usually do it the other way round, OH gets seth dumped on him as soon as he gets whiney if he's at home :D i put up with it all day so when he gets home its his turn :rotfl:

that bouncer is a right bargain! :T i've been looking for one but they're about £20 new, might have to get myself to a car boot  never actually been to one before :o
we had the mums group on weaning a couple of weeks ago, it was good stuff! it was after that session that i realised why seth is such a grump all the time and the HV agreed that he probably did want "proper" food, but couldnt advise me to give it to him although she had weaned hers at 3 months and gave me a knowing wink!! i like her :D
seth clearly doesnt like baby rice, we may have given him some other creamy baby banana porridgey stuff which he loves  we were scraping the bowl with that!

We were fine Mel! I did check with my mum that all was well but I enjoyed being able to forget about mummy things for the night. I did find it hard this morning when there was a family sat having breakfast with their kids being cute - I needed to come home straight away then.

Do you think that it is a confidence thing with your hubby? Sometimes I think that OH's just convince themselves that they can't 'do it' when they so obviously can.

What kind of car are you looking at?
:j Yay, Rhys! You must be on cloud 9, elle! :j

MFD, glad your evening went well! :D

Mel, when I had Poppy I was convinced DH would just panic and call for me. Honestly, I couldn't have a wee in peace! I would rush to go see to her but then I decided to leave him to it, not in a horrible way, but just so he had to deal with it and think, yes, you're her Daddy, she is yours too! ;):o.

And I would decide to have a shower at totally random times so he had no choice and I couldn't hear him calling :rotfl:.

    xx

He is plenty confident:) It's just he was playing on the stupid PS3 and 'Kai was putting him off':mad:

I'll just get him to oversee the gruesome twosome next Sunday......Sunday is bath day you see, and clipping nails cleaning ears and all manner of grooming jobs! Through the week they get quick showers and they can mostly manage that themselves:D

ooh Mel I can't look at cars because we have no restraint and would end up buying :p OH wants one of these http://c4picasso.citroen.com/uk/

Mmmmm nice car...I won't getting anything as swanky as that;)

I think I have decided on a Volvo V70. As long as I get at least 01/02 or newer then they are a nice modern shape(would love brand new but my bank balance doesn't agree:rolleyes:). The V70 has a nice big boot, for our nice big dog:p and also comes with two fold away seats in the boot, making it a 7 seater when required...Perfect:D

I love car shopping...I am also booking in for my motorbike licence soon:o

Weezl - enjoy your weaning class:)

I have ds1 sports day this afternoon, please pray for dry weather!

Kai LOVES that banana porridge.... He also wasn't that keen on the baby rice, but I did still give him that first off, as I though it to be gentler on the tum while he was still so young.

he might have polished off a whole quarter of a watered and mashed gluten free reduced sugar rusk this morning which went down well but my god - the mess!! he cant seem to get his head round the fact that he needs to keep his hands out of his mouth to eat, so he had a bath shortly after! he is so much nicer for having something more than milk, he drifted off quite peacefully on the bed while i went and put a load in the machine. thats only the third time he has gone off to sleep on his own in his whole little life! :T
