on the vest subject, does anyone know where i can get some "different" vests for my little man? i dont really do putting him in "baby" clothes like baby blue and white/cream, he is currently wearing denim shorts and a brown and blue stripy crocodile t shirt :D and i want to get some nice not-so-babyish vests as thats all he needs to wear in hot weather? also maybe some nice funky romper suits that dont look like sleepwear lol!

http://www.newfamilyshop.com/ssl/shopdisplaycategories.asp has some reasonably priced stuff. DS lived in their brightly coloured sleepsuits for months when he was small...;)

And Chocca - are you sure you aren't married to my DH? He does that exact same wink and knowing a cure for things. Just when I really could do with some sympathy too. Bloody men ;)

Could be. He's a HGV driver and up until the last few months he's spent several nights a week away from home. Or it could just be all men are the same!

scruff i hope your dad is ok :grouphug:

i'm really annoyed - went to the post office to pick up the bumbo, the packaging was torn to shreds and the box battered, whether this was the post offices fault or the sellers i dont know, and the bumbo is covered in pen marks and what should be turquoise has a distinct orange tinge in places  it looks nothing like the bloody picture and cos its the first thing i've bought i didnt want to put negative feedback in case sellers wont let me bid or people dont buy from me :mad:

the most annoying thing is in babies r us i could have bought a brand new one for £5 more once postage was included but i thought i'd save £5 by getting a 2nd hand one. so annoyed. scrubbed it as best i can but it just doesnt look very nice. tempted to sell it on but i couldnt lie about the condition and i'd be out of pocket :(

Sorry I'm busy at the minute and can't keep up with all the chat!

Hope you Dad is ok scruffy.

emlou - I would complain about that to the seller and take pictures of the damage, and see what they offer. If you post on the ebay board, they will tell you the best way of going about it.

Been looking at beds for Charlotte. She's in the smallest bedroom which has a sort of wooden block in it covering the stairs. We're pretty limited for space as to where we can put a bed. If we put it where her cot is now, we've only got the room for either a toddler bed or a small divan.

The other alternative is putting a full sized bed along the other wall, but that means it's up against the radiator and I was worried in case she burned herself on it. However I've seen this now:
    http://www.dreams.co.uk/en-gb/ProductDetails/?cid=BEDSTEADS&pid=213-00336&language=en-GB
and was thinking it could stand a few inches off the radiator to stop her burning herself. Then once she starts having friends round, I can get a few scatter cushions to make it into a sofa by day and bed by night.

    Decisions, decisions!
Here I go again on my own....

emlou - don't worry about complaining to the seller, if you're worried ask on the ebay board as Becles said.
If you contact them to say you're not happy you could get your money back or something, in those cases I usually leave neutral feedback saying there was a problem but it was sorted so they don't get as angry and leave spiteful lies as ur feedback.

I was all set with multi-quotes to reply to everyone when Chris kindly swtiched off our shiny new laptop while I was changing Edgar so I'm soo not going back to see what I was gonna talk about :p
All I remember was MFD those dolls are interesting, Chris is very confused by BFing and keeps nicking breast pads to put up his top and sometimes offers Edgar his chest :rotfl: Although my favourite moment was yesterday when he came and sat next to me on the sofa, he was watching intently as Edgar fed and then said "I have some" and promptly licked my boob  :p

  • That day bed looks fab - I used to have one like that when I was younger :) If it were me I would go for something like that (or something proper-bed sized anyway) and then it will last longer. Is there room for something like this (not suggesting you spend that much money, was just looking for a picture quickly. That would come up level with the radiator, so she couldn't burn herself on it, but I suppose it would trap the heat behind it too, so possibly not the best idea actually. I think I've talked us both out of that one! Time for bed I think.

Beccles, there was a thread just the other day, called "What to do with a box room?" I think, where the OP had the same prob with the stair box. Might be some suggestions on there for you :)

Becles - someone I knew when ds1 was small had a similar problem and ended up getting a carpenter to make a bespoke (standard size single) bed that fitted over the block. I don't think it was too expensive (I remember thinking that at the time as I thought bespoke meant mega expensive), is that maybe a solution for you?

We've thought about sleeper beds and something built above the box, but were worried in case she couldn't manage the ladder or fell off. Not sure of the exact height of the box, but it's a handy size to use for nappy changes :D

Also we're not sure if she is staying in there permanently. Still debating baby number 4 and if that happens, James would go into Charlottes room and she'd go into his bigger room to share with the new baby.

Too many things to think about :D

Becles - would the boys be happy to share a room so Charlotte could have a bigger one? maybe have her little room as a boys only play room to soften the blow?
on the bespoke note, my Dad built me a bed so I guess you could call that bespoke  it was like a wendy house with 80's faux brick wall paper on the outside :D he made a ladder for it but I never used it I used to climb in/out myself (I was a bit of a tom boy that liked climbing trees tho) I had it from being about 4yo tho..

ps a cheaper option to the bed from dreams could be this.. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10073977
