feelie, what have you been using up to now?

I'm using a Medela Symphony double pump whilst staying in hospital with Rhys and think I'll rent one for home once we go home and Rhys stays in for a while - have seen them for £40 for 30 days rental, I think :)

I don't know what it is, whether it is just anxiety, but I feel like I should be doing things with him all the time. I hold him pretty much all the time, I just worry about him so much. I especially worry that he won't feel loved enough, so I probably go overboard :o
I think if were all honest we all feel/felt like this at some point
I also say feed him what he wants, baby knows what he wants and if you don't give it to him you'll have a rather grumpy baby.

Dormouse what a handsome chap you have there...

Searching el was in hospital a week, then I was out the very next day we got home so 8 days old.

    Annielove Congrats and welcome.

Caz she is lovely and looks soooo much older than him!!

OMG how did I forget to tell you all El took her first on her own steps on Sunday. Not holding on to anything she just got up and went for it no encouragement she just did it :p

    I'm very confused about feeding.

Online, all the things I've read seem to suggest that a BF baby should have around 750-900ml a day. The amount shouldn't increase from 1 month to 6 months, just the composition of the milk.

HV says he should have 2.5 oz per lb of body weight, which at the moment works out at 29oz (about 825ml).

DS drinks 1200ml a day, little and often.

HV says I should try and get him to take 8oz at a time, internet tells me I'm overfeeding him.

He is sticking pretty close to 50th Centile on the Formula based growth chart in my red book.

My advice would be to ignore all of that and just go with the flow!

I never bothered measuring how much milk any of mine were getting and I've rarely had them weighed. You can see by looking at them if they are thriving. All of mine have been happy and healthy babies, and I didn't get stressed over centile lines and milk amounts.

The only time I did keep an eye on how much milk was if they were poorly, in case they got dehydrated or anything like that.

If you think about your own diet - some days you just feel like a slice of toast for lunch, yet other days you are ravenous and could eat a three course meal. I think babies are the same - some days they have a little milk, some days a lot, some days they have a few huge feeds, other days they like to snack on little feeds and so on.
Here I go again on my own....

i think its hareder to loose weight with kids as they are always eating and i find myself doing the same:P
I actually laid off the biscuits when they were at an age that they'd demand them too. Being at work is my downfall, there is ALWAYS food there and it's usually cake / chocolate and irresistible!

i dont want to rush taking him but with zoe the midwife said no sooner then2 weeks but this one they dont seem bothered i need to buy a breast pump but i couldnt leave him til i get one x
There may sometimes be a reason - if baby is tiny or unwell, or it's the middle of winter, or mum has had a rough time, then it makes sense to stay home. But I was never told to stay home. Can't remember how long I did stay home for!
