Gals - don't worry about entertaining baby all the time. As 3 says, just brightly-coloured stuff is AMAZINGLY interesting while they're little. We had some shapes and a pull-out book thing from JoJo (I think) which had black and white shapes/pics on them which Imogen stared at for ages. We just put her moses basket on the floor and balanced them on the sofa so that she could stare up at them.

Last day at work and I was hoping to get away at 3 but can't meet with my managers until 3.30 so won't get away til 4 :-( Nevermind. Last time for 10 months - hurrah!

Welcome to connor's mum and searching.

Re benefits/help for SAHM, does your local council have a children's service? Ours (I think) will provide advice on what you might be entitled to and more technical stuff like whether it's better to claim for any childcare as part of your working tax credits rather than use an employer's childcare voucher scheme. I know a friend has found them really helpful. TBH you'll probably have been entitled to some working tax credits backdated from when bubs was born, even though you've been getting paid. You need to jointly earn more than £50k before you get nothing at all so worth a phonecall. They are very helpful.

Feelie - hope you are doing okay. Sounds like the children's centre lady is lovely. Good for you for speaking up.

Re BF in public. I didn't worry about special BF tops, but I did drape a muslin or shawl over my shoulder each time so my exposed bits weren't so exposed!

3 - we were convinced Imogen was going to be left-handed as she led with that hand from early on. But for the last year or so she's picked up crayons/pencils with her right hand. OH was hoping she'd be a leftie as he and all his siblings are (which is v unusual). We think she's more ambidextrous as she can use cutlery either way around.

Am sure there's other stuff I want to comment on, but have read about 6 pages and now can't remember half of it!

Best thing we've got is the door bouncer thingy - she loves standing in there, looking around and trying to grab the dog as it passes.

I want one of these for Roo when she gets older - however I have visions of a flying baby when the dog zooms past her to bark at anyone coming to the front door :rotfl:
I'll probably have to put it upstairs which will limit the amount of use she'll get from it booooo

They're great Tine, I still have Aimee's... I had a big rottie cross in those days too, don't remember him ever catapulting her in it though lol...

    With or without bubs?

With - I walked (slowly) to school when she was a couple of days.
Without - I went to Asda (how exciting!) when she was about 5 days.

Milk supply is still increasing, I'm up to about 1000ml a day. Which would be great if my 8 week old baby didn't drink 1200ml! According to my calculations, that is enough breastmilk for a 17lb baby. Ooops.

Have to admit I don't really measure how much Roo drinks - even when bottle fed EBM... I just make sure she gets until she doesn't want any more :) This morning though I expressed about 250ml - apart from yesterday that was a slow morning session! (yesterday I felt so crap and under the weather though... probably why my milk production was down...)
I find if the milk flows slowly and isn't coming out in jets then pain or no pain I whack Roo on the boob even if only for a minute and WHAM - her suckling gets the hormones going to release the milk :) I'm just so happy that despite having been on the bottle for a few days now she still knows what a boob is for :) gave her a top up from the left boob earlier (to get the milk flowing lol) and she latched on easily :)

Thrush - Roo's mouth looks to have pretty much cleared up! :j:j:j My boobs are a little sore but not as bad as yesterday and the day before... when she was on the left earlier it didn't hurt at all (slight pressure at the beginning but not pain like I was getting! You could nearly have peeled me off the ceiling each feed!) but the right is still tender and sore so going to only put her on that to get milk flowing for now until it's all stopped hurting.
Good news is that after massaging boob and a REALLY hot bath yesterday the pain in the right boob which I suspect was a blocked duct bordering on mastitis has disappeared :j

So today I actually feel more alive and with it despite another toughish night and still have a cold and sore throat - but definitely feeling better. So much so I have actually managed to take out food from the freezer to cook for DH for dinner! Compared to last few days this is a HUGE improvement :) Heck I might even think about taking Roo and the pooch for a walk! (ok ok maybe that's pushing it looking at the weather...)

Glad to hear its getting better Tine. If it's not hurting to feed directly from the left then I would start to put her to the breast a bit more for feeds, she's going to be a lot more efficient at milking you (and building your supply) than the pump... You might find popping her on the left also gets the milk flowing in the right too, to save you being in pain :)
