Day 4. Yesterday was my best day as regards sticking to the plan. Unhappy face this morning :( woke feeling sick, headachy and crap! Upset tum so I have treated myself to a cup of tea with milk - the universal feel better medicine, and am starting to feel a bit better and actually feeling like I could take my shake and not like I could throw up as think about it.

Also jumped on scales and it says I put a 1lb on from yesterday. CDC's scales better be magic. :(:(:(

Update = 5hrs later (11.20) still feel rough and I can't concentrate on anything!!! I am a student nurse and I am supposed to be working on my assignments today but its just not happening.

I had my shake but felt so so so hungry I fell off the wagon with 1 slice of cheese on toast. It was lovely. I feel guilty, but will endeavour to behave for the rest of the day - planned the evening meal for the family yesterday to be stuff I don't like (liver and onions and fish fingers - not together tho!) so tea time won't be a problem.

  • Your just having a big detox/carb withdrawl, nothing for it but to ride it out unfortunately. Some folk have reported feeling like they had flu it's been that bad. Once you're over this bit you'll feel great. Drink plenty, I carried on drinking tea and coffee the whole time and it didn't stall me so don't unnecessarily deny yourself the restorative powers of a hot drink!, but water's best obviously. Ask yourself, are you really genuinely hungry or is it more your mind playing games? I found I was rarely really hungry, it is the battle with my brain that's been hard. If I did have hunger pangs it reassured me that I must be burning off fat as fuel so it was a positive thing. Good luck with your weigh in later

    regards CWR

I think above is how I am feeling! Glad it's just withdrawl symptoms:(

I've had a strawberry, toffee and walnut shakes and a oriental soup and loved them all! They're yummy and I recommend them!

Although Tuesday can't come quick enough- as I'm hoping it's all worth it:) how's it going for you now diddly?

Yes but I feinted so I will be giving this some proper thought:( I'm not sure it's the right diet for me- I may return to slimming world... Tail between my legs!

Also I don't like not exercising- it's just something I enjoy and fruit too- I miss that loads.

Anyone else felt downhearted but continued? Or is it just me?

    Hi Helen and everyone

Well here we are day 5. And I am so glad to leave yesterday behind! smiley14.gif

Yesterday was my hardest day - until about 4pm! I felt awful when I woke, sick, upset tum, headachy, and the thought of any of the mixes turned my stomach even more. So I treated myself to a cup of tea and I have to admit a piece of cheese on toast. Every day since Monday has been a struggle but yesterday the worst, but I saw my CDC yesterday afternoon and despite all my indiscretions smiley9.gif I managed to lose 3lb in 4 days. Next weigh in is Monday, as she is going away next week. I am happy with that in 4 days (would've liked more but I am not knocking it).

Anyway back to day 5. I am sitting here feeling hungry. Not the gut ripping stuff that I have had just a grumbling that its had nothing put in it. Off to have my banana shake breakfast (I really cannot manage the porridge or the soups - they don't exactly taste bad I just gag drinking soup even when its normal stuff.) I discovered if I drink a glass of water after my shake it helps too.

Sorry to hear you can't manage the diet Helen. But then slimmers world didn't work for me I lost 7lb in 6 months on that diet - again the carbs got me -ooooo green days are bliss lol.

morning!! I'm feeling more upbeat right now, however it is only 8am and there's no temptation in my way to start eating dveryhing in sight!

I will do week one as I've paid for it- hopefully the scales will keep me going:)

  • Hello, I've just joined MSE so I can ask you all some questions about the cambridge diet.

I'm 5'6", nearly 13 stone, and also nearly 30, so really really want to lose weight before my birthday. Up until 18 months ago, I hovered around 10.25/10.5 stone, but a back problem meant I had to stop running, and I lost all motivation to stay healthy. I like the idea of not having to bother with cooking, not having to think about food, and the fast results, but am put off by the thought of excess skin (at what weight does this become a problem?), the cost (I am in Surrey - any idea what the going rate is here for the shakes etc?) and being teased by my other half who despises all diets and any talk of losing weight (though has admitted he thinks I'm too large). There is also the question of what to do when out with friends/round at people's houses - is it okay to take an evening off when on the Sole Source program? Also, will I have the energy on the CD to go out for a run/long walk/any other exercise?

I have been doing WW, but the slow results are not keeping me motivated, and I really need a kickstart to boost my confidence and keep me going.

Thank you so much if anyone is able to answer any of my rambling queries.

    Tealight :)

I thought about food every waking moment of the 4 days I survived on the diet, however you don't need to think about cooking food or actually contemplate eating it... which I think would have become easier had I survived more days :o

the cost (I am in Surrey - any idea what the going rate is here for the shakes etc?)

It cost me £1.75 per shake/soup/porridge, £1.95 per ready made shake and there's other stuff which I never got to try (mousse and squash flavourings). You will need 3/4 a day or £49 per week minimum for me at 5ft10.

and being teased by my other half who despises all diets and any talk of losing weight (though has admitted he thinks I'm too large).

Don't do they diet for someone else, do it for you!

I think this is personal to individuals, I felt awful, but then I only managed 4 days :o

Doing 4 days on CD made me love the SW diet and I've gone running back with open arms!

Thank you so much if anyone is able to answer any of my rambling queries.

    Tealight :)

Hi Tealight -I've tried to answer some questions :)

However... I have to admit... I've quit the diet already, I couldn't take my own moaning, I we had a dinner party, I couldn't drink tea with my friends and I couldn't hack not even eating fruit :o

Good luck though as the results are awesome!
