I completly agree with the thing about the daily weigh in! I weigh every morning .. BUT i have to say when i gained from Nov to Jan i didnt check once i was to scared! and i think thats the thing,if i dont weigh every day i panic and then i think oh no ive gained weight and then done check hence the bad cycle begins!
I will have to weigh every day for life! ... im kinda thinking of giving myself a 3lb gain limit .... or having a really good diet week and then having fri and sat as my "unsaintly" days ..
Whats everyone else going to do ??
Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!
  • I think its great we are already thinking about maintenance:j:T.

3lb variance, mmm, I dont know if that would work for me, I can put half a stone on over the weekend. But then thinking about it, maybe 5lb would be a good one, it might stop me blitzing allllll weekend, and just having a treat one night instead of over three days.

    Good idea Piratess:T
  • Pogs, don't stress, it will all even out in the end. Serial weigher - I like that -made me smile - I to am going to be a serial weigher!!

Keep drinking the water - I am sure you will be OK.
Which reminds me - after my Personal Best of 4 litres yesterday I havent even managed 1/2 a litre yet today, have to get cracking.

Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!
  • Hello everyone! It's now day 14 of 70 (although I'll be eating and drinking for two of those days) and 15/42lbs to lose although the official weight in is tomorrow. My CDC's scales do weigh me about 6lbs heavier but I do keep my shoes on - so I'm tracking both weigh ins.

In maintainance I like the idea of weighing in every week as this really kept me on track over xmas. I've now been logging my weight, fat percentage, water percentage, lean body mass, bmi and basic calorie need for just over a year now (super scales). I've also marked if I was good all week (on whatever diet I was doing) and it's fascinating to look back on. The pattern goes; good week, small loss, good week, small loss, good week, no loss, bad week, gain, over and over again.

In the two weeks on this diet I've lost over 1.5% in body fat which speaks for itself. And over the year I can also see I've been gradually increasing my muscle mass every week (have learnt to like exercise). I'm sure this is where I was going wrong before, losing a stone (of fat, water and muscle) and putting it back on (mostly fat) and decreasing my calorie needs. This time I'm going to lose the fat and increase the lean muscle - hopefully meaning I can eat safely in moderation and stop the yoyo.

Although I did eat a haribo sweet yesterday. I honestly didn't think and when the packet was offered I took one and then couldn't spit it out as I was at work! I suppose that still counts as cheating even though I didn't mean to eat it!
  • PIRATEES - I Looooveee Twilight series...obviously loving Edward also :D I've got the first three books to read, but haven't started yet, everyone keeps saying once i start i won't be able to put them down.... really must get into them though !! Have already pre-ordered by DVD of New Moon on PLAY...can't wait :j

Strolling on through day 19, nearly over, into the 20's!! Haven't got anywhere near this far in the many attempts of getting back on the cambridge wagon in over a year :T

Looks like lots of newbees to keep us all going on track, roll on May/June and hopefully i'll also be 5 stone lighter, only got a couple of 'planned' days slightly off track ! Have to keep going while i'm on a roll, took so very long to get back to being good !

Unfortunately I don't have scales at home, not sure if its a blessing or not, i think i would most definately be on every hour of every day, definately need to stay with my Saturday WI tho, keeps me motivated, just hope i don't come to a week with a stand-still !

    Hi all,

I have just started CD today and was looking for a little motivation on here, reading some of your comments has already spured me on that I am doing the right thing. The diet is going to get some getting used to but It is a must. I have about 10 stone I need to shed to get anywhere near a healthy target and am praying this will work.
Does anyone have any tips on keeping focused?
Also noticed I have a bit of a headach and dont know if it is the meals or that I havn't been wearing my glasses, although I am drinking plenty of water like my CDC suggested. Well anyway one day nearly down and on to the rest! :o
  • HWGA - 20 days already, it goes by faster than you think - definitely need to plan those off days and plan to get straight back on track.

Br33ni - Day 1, this could be the most rewarding day ever if you let it - stay on track and keep up the good work. Tips to keep focused, thats a hard one! I am better at what not to do really - do as I say not as I do!
If you didn't cut down on your carbs before you start a headache is to be expected, definitely nothing to worry about. Have to warn you the first few days when you go through carb withdrawal are pretty awful, headaches, dizzyness, extreme tiredness, feeling very cold - not trying to put you off, just be reassured that once you get through the first 3/4/5 days you will start to feel much better, 10-14 days in, you will feel much less bloated, energetic and lively and likely much better than you have in years. Stick with it in the early days. It will get better.

My biggest top tip - did you drink a lot of coffee, tea, caffiene drinks? If you are not used to drinking them black, there is a big tendancy to drastically cut back on what you drink or even not drink them at all. Don't do it!! Caffiene is a highly addictive substance and if you cut them out completely the withdrawal includes debilitating headaches, and I mean really bad headaches where you feel like you cannot lift your head. If you drank it before don't give it up all of a sudden. If you really can't stomach black tea or coffee, try a tiny bit of skimmed milk in tea, or try stirring a spoonful of vanilla CD into coffee to make it more palatable.

Keep posting and reading posts. Minimins is a good site. I don't really post on there, its a bit too busy for me, (I'd never get any work done!) find this one less busy so you get to know each other better. But it has some good blogs and you can read some diaries and they have some before and after shots to help motivate you.

Take up something to keep you busy - half the time we eat without thinking out of boredom, friend of mine took up knitting, last time I did loads of work in the garden, do your nails, have a lovely bath with a bottle of chilled sparling water and a load of bubbles. Play games, computer games can get you engrossed, especially if you play against people on-line. Facebook has a lot of on-line games.

Record your progress, I have an Excel spreadsheet I can send you if you pm your email address. Keep a record of your 100% days.

If you reach into the fridge and just think "Oh I will just grab that bit of chicken it won't matter" it will - and it will lead to more.
Make a pact with yourself to wait 10 minutes before you allow yourself to have it. come on here and post and read and after 10 minutes hopefully you will talk yourself out of it!

Hopefully that will keep you going for now - everyone will have loads of tips, some work better for some people but they are all worth a try to see what suits you.

    Keep it up!

Hi br33ni, welcome! Keep drinking and think how happy you'll feel when you start seeing the weight coming off.

I'm on LL (well off it at the moment due to medication problems) and everyone is very friendly here, so come and chat whenever you can :)

LL/CD are great diets, keep drinking water and it could be that your headache is just the start of the detoxing process.
