  • Hiya guys
Yep day 19 for me, survived the cinema :j feeling a bit better today, more positive and most definately looking forward to WI on Saturday morning  not expecting a mega loss as already 16lb down in 2 weeks but anything would be nice :T

PIRATEES - It was Daybreakers with Ethan Hawke....was an okish film, wouldn't rush again but was definately worth watching for him :p

Ah glad PAP is still in touch, hopefully she'll be ready to join the Cambridge Wagon soon....we all know, you've definatley got to be in the right mood to crack this ;)
  • Morning All, well had a wonderful nights sleep last night and feel much better for it this morning. Have had a bad few nights and it was really starting to annoy me.

Another 100% day to add to my chart and feeling quite positive today.
I need to think about what to do about WI, I started Monday on my own with left over packs, and will go to the CDC on Saturday.
Can't decide whether to stick to Monday on my Scales as my WI day or move to Saturday and CDC Scales.
Need to decide one or the other, think might go with my own, and might get some digital ones, rather than leaning to the left or right and addng / losing half a stone!!!
The main reason being its not always easy to get to the CDC and I tend to get a couple of weeks packs at a time in case I cant get there.

Bought a new shed yesterday - we have two and both of them are falling to pieces. Havent really got the money, and had to take it out of my savings, but it was such a bargain, £399, in Costco - the same shed in B&Q Is £849:T.
Now I am hoping to get in the garden, weather permitting, and clear away the old shrubbery and lay some paving. That will keep me busy at least!

Well done HWGA on surviving the cinema, 16lb in 2 weeks is fantastic, I am sure you will still see something.

Wait to hear about your day at lunchtime Piratess, hope you have been having a good one.

Glad your back is feeling better Kitty - I too suffer with my back and hips, Arthritis in my spine, but a lot of the pain is weight related. Its a vicious circle isnt it.
Maybe if, when you have to take the painkillers, you just move up the plans, and try and eat off the 810 or 1200 options. This is black pot, kettle coming from me I know, but I am so bad when I have "Time off" feel like I have to eat everything in sight. Was thinking it would be easier if you have to pick from a list, rather than going off plan completely.

Poggy, we sound very similar in our attitude:o.
Further to conversation with myself above - are you going off loss on CDC scales or yours? or mixing them up. All scales will weight slightly differently, and you will weight differently at different times of the day.
I think scale hopping can be a good thing on this diet as it helps you stay motivated. But you need to make sure it is at the same time of day, and on the same scales.
Why not keep a separate card at home for your own private WI and also have the CDC as a separate check on your progress.
Best time to weigh in for most people is first thing in the morning after the loo, before you shower, bollock naked;)

And dont forget to suck your stomach in - have no idea why I do this but always hold my stomach in and stand up straight.
    Anyone else do it?

    Havea good CD Day everyone

    Hi all,
Well finally got to CDC counsellor last night and started today. OH has also started but is going to do add a meal - however hoping we will help support each other.

I have 4 stone to lose - 4st 2lbs would put me below 10 but realistically I would be happy to be 10st 4 or something like that. This is my 3rd/4th time - 5 years ago I did lose 4st and the weight has gone back on. I have had a couple of attempts to go back but failed - not this time though:T. However I feel so very unfit at this weight and huffing and puffing when I bend down - so this is now important. CD worked for me because I did see weight come off quickly - and patience is not a virtue!

Cost wise I did not notice last time because of the takeaway (friday night treat) and also wine - which has been increasing to nightly and that isn't healthy either.

In terms of events etc we have booked a holiday in Feb - don't think for a minute I can keep to CD on holiday but previous failures have been to go off and then continue to stay off the diet so maybe if I know I am coming off then it won't be too bad. It's really silly though - day 1 and I feel hungry now having just had porridge! Surely that is psychological rather than actual - off to drink glass of water!

Thanks Dunc for helpful numbers etc - so I am on day 1/130 - doesn't sound too bad and I do remember feeling fab at the end. Hoping this time thinking of the odd barbie in summer will help too as last time I missed most of those!

    OK good luck everyone,

    Maggiem
  • Hi Maggie,
Well done on starting - thats the hard bit over, now we just have to stick to it!!!

The Holiday thing was where I lost it last year and never managed to get back on track - a couple of half hearted attempts ended in failure and an eat all you can before you go back on it type mood.

This time I have started earlier and hope to be in maintenance by May which should get me through the summer in a much more sensible frame of mind.

Are you going anywhere nice on your hols?. We usually go away in Feb Half Term but due to lack of funds have had to give it a miss this year.
  • Hi everyone

Would it be ok if I joined you guys. I started CD on 4.1.10 and on day 17 now. I'm doing the sole source diet and found it really hard at first but have settled into it really well and still going strong. I have 6 stone to lose which is rather daunting but I am really determind to stick at this.
I lost 7lb in my first week and 2lb on my second which I was kinda dissapointed with but it was totm so my cdc said that was pretty good. I would really love a 5lb loss this week just to take me to 1 stone but I'm trying to stay realistic so not to be too dissapointed if I don't quite make it I know I will get there in the end.:)
    Nothing to report:p
  • Hi There Rolley,

Course its OK, the more the better! It gets a bit hard at times and its good to have other people to talk to in the same boat. I know when following this to friends and family it seems a bit extreme and you don't always get the support you need to keep on track.

If you only had 2 last week with TOTM and you have been 100%er then I am sure you will do well this week.
You could be rid of that 6 stone by the end of June IF you stay on track, and stay focused. Its not that long really.

Good luck and keep popping in - it can make all the difference, especially during weak moments.

Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!
  • Righto! Have just popped out to Debenhams, bought some new digi scales that measure in 0.2 lbs. (In the Sale!)

Decided to do my own WI, and am going to do a chart and stick it to the bathroom wall to fill in every morning. (hopefully if it measures each 0.2 lb most of the time it will show something downwards although I know there will be sometimes that it won't)

Have also made the investment as a long term thing really. When I go off the rails a bit - tend to ignore the scales. Don't want to know, bury your head in the sand type of thing. Optimistically, I am heading for maintenance. In maintenance the worst thing is trying not to let yourself go again. Planning on a daily weigh in forever:eek:.

Now I know there are some schools of thought that tell you not to weigh yourself, go by your clothes. Its not healthy to obsess about your weight all the time, and so on.
But thats what I have been doing for the last 15 years:o, finally time to own up to having problems controlling my weight and take action. I think this will be a much more healthy approach than losing 2 stone, putting it back on, losing it again and so on.........

Off to make my new chart for the bathroom!!!;)
  • Hi Piratess - do you like the green or herbal teas? You could take them with you - mind you you might get even more odd ball looks.

We used to have a social worker that came round and would just have a cup of boiled water - now that always seemed a little extreme.

Oh and apologies for the bo***cks bit. It used to self edit naughty words!

I'm a serial weigher duncs. For my chart I am using the CDC WI but I'm just checking the scales are moving. They are but not quick enough for me! I'm soooo impatient! Only 6 lbs so far which I know is good but on my last time on CD it was 10lbs in 5 days which I kind of expected this time and am a bit disappointed. No point stressing though I'm gonna wait for tomorrow and get my official figure.

Well done you on you 100%!!!:T
