If no agreement is reached and US goes over the 'fiscal cliff' what, if any, effect should we expect on the £/$ exchange rate?
Or has this already been factored in to recent rates?

17 minutes to go. First time I've stayed up until midnight since I don't know when.. The little ladies taking it in turns getting up soon after 5am sees to that.

Happy New Year from the Bonds. Here's a picture from our wedding earlier this year.. Well, last year when you read this!

Happy new year, Neil and lovely family.

Not Ben on thread for a while, as we have no immediate plans to visit the USA. Unfortunately, they are moving from lovely sunny Florida to cold Philadelphia.

That means we won't be buying a little condo.

    Love your pictures.

Happy New Year to you too!

Y'ouch! One positive is Philly is a lot easier to get to!

I'm jealous of a friend who lives down in Savannah, Ga. We've had a few inches of snow recently and it's been below 0 for the last few days (day and night). He's in the 60's and golfing!
  • Both the old and new Bank of England chief threaten to devalue the currency further as its a help to those not in cash.
GBP is now the worst performing G20 currency year-to-date after the JPY; -4% vs. USD, -6% vs. EUR

The chart is trying to say we may be breaking into new lows, so back to 1.45. If we get 1.60 and hold there or higher then we would be stepping back from the brink
Carney said “full monetary stimulus” was required to help the economy and introducing the concept of “nominal GDP” targeting, King opened the path for further QE when he said “There remains spare capacity – certainly in the labour market”.

    Oh dear..... :(
With the rate at a 12 month low, looks like this may come to fruition....... :(:(:(
If it could hold off for a couple of months I'd appreciate it :D
