I have no problem with sending e-mails or contacting the media but once people start making false bookings the reputation of MSE is endangered.
Besides, how would he know that the no-shows are a direct consequence of 'placemat-gate'?
I don't think it needs this kind of action to harm his business... he seems more than capable of doing the damage himself.
Quite so,
I'd just like to state for the record, for anyone coming in halfway through these pages (and incase anyones lawyer is perusing these pages  ) that I have neither instigated nor condoned any of these emails that have been sent as a result of my OP. ( Though I have had a darn good chuckle at some of them )
Lets maintain MSE's integrity :money:0 -

Gather as many people as you can to sit in his cafe over lunch and only buy a Kit Kat, make sure you get enough to fill the place - lost revenue for him
 a kitkat..... they don't sell kitkats....... they don't want to encourage the kind of person who eats kitkats.............they are the kind of person who lets their chid run rampant with stickers.......0 -
AP wrote:If this happens to me (anywhere), I would simply refuse to pay and let them call the police if they want! I assume all such damages are accidental and not intentional and unless they specify on the menu or display a prominent notice outside the restaurant that all damages are to be charged for, this is what I am going to do should it happen to me.
That's what I like to think I would have done, but it was my friend who originaly payed the bill and I think he was so gobsmacked that he just handed it over. I'd already left the premises because the offending child was begining to kick off big time. As I did when I went back in to claim my mats.
Next time I'll be ready.0 -

Car problems today had really dented my enthusiasm, but reading this thread has cheered me up no end!
Well done Alison - whichever way Mr Ridgeway gets the message, perhaps he will examine his business practices and get his staff some customer service training!
Hope you've got some more stickers for your daughter - just in case you are invited back!
As it happens, yesterday at playgroup, my order from a craft catalogue was delivered, I'd forgotten that in the order was a bumper pack of sticker books.
Three books with 700  in each.
Karma has caught up with me they are all over the kichen cupboards, the floor, ( and are well and truely stuck on there ) and on me. Don't know who I'm going to send the bill to. I'll have to take it out of her pocket money. ( I'll have to start giving her pocket money first.)0 -

How true!
Does anyone else think this description from their Daily Specials Menu is just TOO pretentious?
Home-made Haddock Fishcakes £ 6.95
With lemon and dill
Served with a visit to our famous salad bar
Served on one of their famous placemats perhaps?0 -

Must be some milage in THAT mistake given how recently your MinL died. Surely the OP should have simply gone to the local paper with this?
By everyone emailing you are simply behaving in an immature manner, especially as I imagine you are not even using your real names.
No, he shouldn't have charged, but your behaviour is dreadful!
Spoil sport. I haven't laughed so much in ages. :rotfl:7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0
