By the way, block bookings wont work as you are required to pay a deposit when you book.
Ok if block bookings don't work...how about...if we all start sending messages in the chart forum stating that we are going to make seperate bookings at the restaurant but will never show up etc...we actually discuss a date when we are going to unleash this upon him etc...all in the chart forum. And then we send him an email with the link to it, I bet he will be so worried to have bogus reservations that he might not accept reservations for a couple of days.
I am sure this will cost him more than £5 and will teach him a lesson!
As for being childish...They started it by being childish themselves!!!
Ok, I must admit, I may be 39 but my mental age must be around 14!!0 -
I think that this may be getting a bit out of hand.
I have no problem with sending e-mails or contacting the media but once people start making false bookings the reputation of MSE is endangered.
Besides, how would he know that the no-shows are a direct consequence of 'placemat-gate'?
I don't think it needs this kind of action to harm his business... he seems more than capable of doing the damage himself.Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!0 -

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of your mother-in-law.
I can assure you I have read all the messages in relation to the matter concernig AlisonP and our restaurant. They remain, as far as my colleagues and I are concerned, between us, but as you have taken the trouble to contact us, I felt it only courteous to respond as swiftly as possible. No distress was intended to you and if this has been caused, then I unreservedly apologise.
Yours sincerely

What about a sit-in?
Gather as many people as you can to sit in his cafe over lunch and only buy a Kit Kat, make sure you get enough to fill the place - lost revenue for himLife is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

I think he has probably worked out something like this is going on and is probably just having a laugh about it. Even though I sent an email I thought it would be one or two people sending them and I do think it's gone a bit over the top now. He probably hasnt lost any sleep over it at all.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Skintchick is right, everybody has had their fun, surely it is now time to let this rest ... as often happens somebody is going to take the joke just a bit too far.

...to all of you who have posted on this thread!
Car problems today had really dented my enthusiasm, but reading this thread has cheered me up no end!
Well done Alison - whichever way Mr Ridgeway gets the message, perhaps he will examine his business practices and get his staff some customer service training!
Hope you've got some more stickers for your daughter - just in case you are invited back!

If this happens to me (anywhere), I would simply refuse to pay and let them call the police if they want! I assume all such damages are accidental and not intentional and unless they specify on the menu or display a prominent notice outside the restaurant that all damages are to be charged for, this is what I am going to do should it happen to me.0
