Someone I knew had a rotten meal at a cafe. Very rude and felt 'done'.

He went back the next week with some fresh fish and a roll of duck tape!

    disgusting!!!

    i received this reply;-

Thank you for taking the trouble to contact me, via our website.

At the Keys we endeavour to welcome all our visitors and allow them to enjoy
our hospitality and ambience with as little distraction as possible.

If it had been indeed been your intention to bring your mother-in-law on Sunday,
    you
would both have been extended the same welcome as any one else. Nevertheless,
    we look forward to
welcoming you at some time in the future.

    Yours sincerely

I think the best lesson he could be taught is to think he is getting a fantastic booking. Say a bus load of tourists or something, it would have to be something big enough so he would have to close the restaurant for lunch or dinner, or at least block a huge amount of seats...and then the "tourists" never show up! I am pretty sure it would cost him more than a fiver, the guy is disgusting...I hate politicians!

Don't any of you feel that you are behaving like children with all this emailing?

Surely the OP should have simply gone to the local paper with this?

By everyone emailing you are simply behaving in an immature manner, especially as I imagine you are not even using your real names.

No, he shouldn't have charged, but your behaviour is dreadful!

    How about something like:

Goodday, I sincerely ask for forgiveness for i know this may seem like a complete intrusion to your privacy but right about now this is my option of communication. This note might seem strange or probably untrue considering the amount of junk mails we receive daily but i believe this is still the most genuine way of contacting a true character. I am mrs Angela Smith-Tottington,wife of late mr Gary Smith-Tottington.i am 37 years old and i have been presently diagnosed with severe lungs cancer. The doctor says the condition of my lungs is in a terrible state. My late husband whom died of heart attack was a business mogul in your country.Until recently,i discovered he purchased 25M (twenty five million) tabel mats in England with a value each one for five pounts setrling and with my present condition i cannot withstand the procedures involved in acquiring thes tabel mats many of which I believe to have been placed for safe keeping by my diseased husband in your establishment.

All i request from you,is a your sincere cooperation with the appointed attorney. For your humane efforts,40% of the total tabel mats shall be your reward,10% to the attorney and please the remaining 50% goes to charity - perhaps a local church. if your are honest, capable and comfortable with these terms of my proposal then kindly forward the required informations about you: 1.your full name. 2.country. 3.occupation. 4.age. If i happen to be pleased with your informations,i shall forward your mail to the attorney that will handle the Change Of Ownership and other requested documents by the finance house and will wish to visit your esteemed establishment with my mother-in-law and three (3) year old child for tea biscuits and to view that no damage has occured to my property. Thank you for your understanding, Mrs Angela Smith-Tottington

What people are doing is having a bit of fun with a 'politician' who clearly has no idea how to run a business and has no customer service skills whatsoever. The guy deserves to be taught a lesson, going to the local paper will probably have no impact whatsoever as he probably has half the local paper in his back pocket (as politicians seem to) so this is another brand of 'justice.

I suggest you lighten up and see this thread for what it has been - a bit of FUN

Perhaps Skintchick does have a bit of a point here folks, maybe it's time to drop the emails Im sure he's got the message. I don't want it to backfire and me be accused of orchestrating a vendetta.
Though 'behaving like children' is a bit strong.

By the way, block bookings wont work as you are required to pay a deposit when you book.
  • Skintchick, the reasons I originally posted here rather than go straight to the local paper are,

a)I could remain anonymous, I don't necessarily want to plaster myself accross the paper,

    b) I wanted an immediate outlet, A letter / feature in the local paper could take weeks and not necessarily get published.

    C) This is a 'Vent Board' and venting is exactly what I was doing...................

    d) As the title says 'Consumer Revenge' :)

just sent my e-mail - here it is -

    dear david,

could you please tell me if you are able to accommodate a party of children of 10. we will of course bring our own tablemats and crokery to avoid any possible damage to yours - would you mind washing them for us - I assume there would be no additional charge as you would have to wash your own.

    I got quite a polite reply ....

to receiving a confirmation of your booking.

10 children? 7 children? Is he already under-counting to allow for 3 that might put a sticker on the mats? What happens to the children?
    Torgwen.......... :) ...........
