I told my mum to tell her Old Dear pals who help at the charity shop over the road to stop going in there and why. They won't be happy at the dissing of my god daughter ;-)
I'm sure the mats looked much prettier after they were finished0 -

Well if they treat all their customers like that - it won't take long for them to close down...
Obviously people with no kids
Yeah I'd fight it - report it and maybe even bad mouth it (only with the truth mind you)
Places like that in small towns hate bad word of mouth - so keep talking for your own sake and to p**s them off....
Good luckThere is no need to run outside

I emailed too, Mr Ridgeway said there are "two sides to every story" and that this "has been a learning experience" for him.
I wonder what he could mean by saying there's 2 sides to the story? Obviously every story does have 2 sides, but the facts must surely be correct.
*3yr old child damages placemat by sticking sticker on, when sticker removed surface of mat came off with sticker.
*Waitress not impressed
*Customer paying charged 5 pounds for a set of 4 mats
*Customer not given mats paid for
*Customers friend on hearing this returns to cafe to give them a piece of her mind.
*Customer requests 4 mats she just paid for
*Customer given 3 mats aswell as her childs damaged 1
*Customer notes mats given are damaged aswell as the childs one and brings it into the conversation
*Cafe staff, alledgedly admit that mat was previously charged to another customer for being damaged!
*customer leaves with 4 used and abused mats
* restaurant/cafe has money to buy 4 brand new mats
*restaurant/cafe has aledgedly previously recieved money for the very same mats!
What could possibly be different from Davids point of view? The only thing I can think of is that when the waitress initially saw the damage the customer(s) either appeared to be non apologetic or even percieved (by waitress) to be rude. None of which IMO justifies making a fuss about a £1.25 placemat (is that before or after VAT and tax deducting in the accounts?) Especially when the placemats had been paid for by a previous customer!
Come on David, you're obviously reading this thread, how about an explanation from your point of view.....and a free lunch to the OP & her child whom I'm sure you would like to welcome back to your establishment.0
