I'll do it too but you'll have to help me with the wording as I'm no good at wording letters.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I heard a very strange story at the Mayors drinks party the other night. I dropped a glass which broke and Councillor Davies chipped in that if you were in David's restaurant you would have to pay for the glass. Seems there is a story circulating that you charge for damages. Something to do with a 3 year old and a tablemat with stickers on.
Anyway I'm sure it's a load of rubbish but can you confirm I won't have to pay for any damages if I bring my Mother in Law to your restaurant on Mothers day. You know what Mother in laws are like, I might kill her with a steak knife but if I miss I might hit the table.
Thanks
Mr Killa

That is brilliant Poppy... especially the closing line!
I cannot believe the attitude of that place.
Anyway, considering that this guy is an ex-councillor I've forwarded the links to Private Eye... I wonder if he got up to anything like this while in office?Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!0 -
i just asked for him to confirm if his tablemat sets cost £5 , if so can i order 2 sets as all of the ones i have seen in the shops are a lot more..... :Psmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

I have emailed to, telling him that I cant gaurantee my child wont stick stickers on his placemats so I best avoid his restaurant0

I just wish someone would go there, trip a waitress and see if they get charged for broken crokery!
Anyway, I don't think stores have the right to charge you for broken items unless they have it written down somewhere (correct me anyone if I'm wrong), so I wonder if they have any legal right to charge you for the tablemats unless it is written on the wall...I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
Here's mine:
Dear Sir,
Whilst perusing the local shops, I overheard a couple talking in the
street about how your restaurant had charged a woman and her young
daughter £5 for defacing a place mat with removable stickers
despite said placemats not being in the first flush of Spring.
I put this down to local gossip. After all, why would an ex-councillor
have his name and reputation associated with such a petty and
mean-spirited incident?
Anyway, I'm planning to book a table of seven at your esteemed
establishment for Mother's Day and I'm sure that any minor damaged
caused by partaking in the vino will surely be overlooked.
Yours Sincerely,
Hope Henry Root would be proud of this0
