Windows 7 Slow?

@DatabaseError : Not saying its broken but it needs improvements like all Operating Systems need. Its not been out long and microsoft are jumping to the next venture. I dont need to spend my money on something that is just stable. I want an innovate product that does things in the best possible way.
@everyone : The point I'm making is that with all the resouces they are pouring into Windows 7, there is going to be much less work being done on Vista. Sure they will fix a few issues but will they radically change anything for vista users for the better? I bought vista for the potential to come in future updates, not just for what came in the box at that time. Now that Microsoft have moved their efforts to something new, am I suppose to move with them and spend my money on another product that they may or may not continue to put time and effort into.
Thanks for the info on SP2 as well. Does anyone know what it includes?
@Marty J: Ive noticed alot of Windows Advertisements about Macs, and vice versa. Microsoft and Apple (in my opinion, disagree if you wish) are as bad as each other in that respect, and remind me of the way politicians work to discredit their opponents. It all stands in the way of technological progress and really doesnt help them or their customers.0 -

And you bought Windows Vista? Now that Microsoft have moved their efforts to something new, am I suppose to move with them and spend my money on another product that they may or may not continue to put time and effort into.
Of course you are. Microsoft are a company, just like any other. They want your money. They see the reason for your existence as being to facilitate the transfer of money from your bank account to theirs. As long as you keep doing this, they don't give two hoots about your hurt feelings.
Your options are (a) soldier on with Vista, (b) give Microsoft more money, or (c) use something else. Thanks for the info on SP2 as well. Does anyone know what it includes?

I'm not saying Apple don't mention Microsoft in their ads, of course they do (or more specifically, they mention "PCs"). But Microsoft make ads that don't even bother trying to sell Windows; instead, they try and demonstrate why you shouldn't buy a Mac (in a really quite cack-handed way).
When's the last time you saw an Apple ad that didn't mention Apple and show off what it was trying to advertise? Can you imagine an iPhone ad that spent most of the time talking about Windows Mobile phones? Of course not, it would be nuts. Microsoft have lost the plot.0 -
I cant actually remember any UK Microsoft ads actually mentioning Apple at all, so you might want to post some youtube links of MS loosing the plot cause the currents ads here are just anoyingly cheery.
The iphone ads are a bit funny cause the ASA kept banning them for being misleading and is now so cut down if you took away its name you wouldn't know it was advertising a phone.0 -

Operating systems don't get radically changed after release, get refined with updates and service packs. SP1 corrected a lot of the issues that plagued Vista from launch and took it to a rock solid platform, certainly in my experience the most stable operating system I've used. SP2 might give things a polish, but there shouldn't be any notion that service packs bring a raft of new features to the operating system, the only exception was XP SP2 which actually made it usable.
You don't have to move on if you don't want to. Vista will still be supported for a very long time to come, the business focussed editions will be supported until 2017, with consumer ones at some point before that.
If it does everything you require of it, what's the point in upgrading? That goes for anything really..0 -

Pick one:

and here's Apple's response:

In the Apple ads, Apple claim their product is better. In the Microsoft ads, Microsoft claim their product is cheaper. Actually, they don't even do that; they claim that HP's product is cheaper.
An Apple spokesman said in response to Microsoft's ads, "the one thing that both Apple and Microsoft can agree on is that everyone thinks the Mac is cool".The iphone ads are a bit funny cause the ASA kept banning them for being misleading and is now so cut down if you took away its name you wouldn't know it was advertising a phone.
Apart from the phone on the screen during the whole thing you mean?0 -
That first link goes to an american advert. I cant remember any M$ advert in the uk mentioning a mac. Just ones showing how kids can use PCs.0

Personally I think they need to distance themselves from the name vista as in the mind of the public its the equivalent of what a skoda used to be. More to the point I think of it as ME mk2.
Its actually runs fine now as long as you have the hardware.0 -

And?
North America doesn't count in Microsoft's marketing strategy now?Right over Apple guy's head, it was sarcasm..
Sarcasm from the members of the public in the ads drooling over the Macs?Personally I think they need to distance themselves from the name vista as in the mind of the public its the equivalent of what a skoda used to be. More to the point I think of it as ME mk2.

I think Microsoft agree with you, which is part of the reason for Windows 7.0 -
