Woudnt touch it with a bargepole, Play too many games from around the Windows 95/98 era, Dont wanna risk them not working :P

I use ScummVM and DosBox for playing all my old games.

Incidentally, they have a few free games at ScummVM for download; Beneath a Steel Sky is well worth a play if you're into point-and-click adventure games.

Guess who just downloaded the RC of Windows 7?

I'm going to give it a whirl once some blank DVDs I've ordered get here.

    I don't want anyone saying I don't give Microsoft a chance. ;)

Good on you, Marty. Wish I could do the same with the mac os....there's no way I'm gonna buy a mac just to try it...but I would like to :(

Yeah, that is annoying...I guess you'll have to take a trip to Manchester some day and hang around in one of the Apple Stores until they ask you to leave. :o

As I hate shopping centres (and I have been to Trafford) I guess that's not gonna happen anytime soon :p

lol...my local PC World do Macs. I have fun going in and asking the staff about them. Watching them try to remember every Apple ad they've ever seen so they can think of something to say about the shiny computer in front of them is a diverting way to spend an afternoon. :p

I'm sure Windows 7 is great and everything, but instead of abandoning vista why wont microsoft make an effort and fix vista to run like it should. They are really letting down the people who have bought vista. I know they arent forcing people to upgrade to 7 but they are putting their resources into developing their new venture and I can only assume it will be at the cost of vista users.

Vista Service Pack 2 will be out this year, so that *should* fix a lot more of the problems!

SP2 for Vista is coming shortly, infact if you've got a Technet or MSDN subscription you can get it now..

As someone who's happily been running vista x64 until the 7 RC came out...and still having 3 machines running vista (used 2 of them today!)...er...what's broken about it?

Undoubtedly, when vista was released it was a bit rubbish...but SP1 pretty much fixed that...I'm sure SP2 will build on the improvements...but it's already a stable and established OS.

A lot of the problems with Vista were fixed with SP1, and I imagine SP2 will improve things even more.

But then again, Microsoft wouldn't be dumping the Vista brand like a hot potato and rushing to get Windows 7 out if Vista hadn't been such an initial failure.

Their ads mention Macs more than they mention Windows, which says a lot about how they're trying to distance themselves from Vista. A company that talks about its competitors more than itself isn't too comfortable with what they have on the market.
