  • Make an apple pie. Put a little hole in the top of the pastry top and pour in the evaporated milk carefully. Bake as usual. I have made this pie and it's lovely. The milk just soaks in and makes it all creamy, but not soggy at all.
  • why dnt u just chuck it.. why risk it for a quid or 2

the evaporated milk will be fine, make a milk jelly, dissolve jelly in a little bit of boiling water, maybe third of a pint, let it cool a bit, add evaporated milk and a bit more water to make 3/4 pint, whisk till frothy and leave in fridge to set, good with strawberry, raspberry jelly, tastes fab! my mam used to make this 30 years ago.

Def agree tinned fruit, icecream, I remember as a kid tin fruit and evaporated milk was a real treat.

Also - if you add a 2 teaspoons sugar and whisk it up, tastes fab, goes bit like posh thick cream.

If your making custard or blamondge, use the evaporated milk and then top with normal milk, give it a really creamy feel.

(thank you for letting me remember Sunday teatimes in the 70s, childhood treat) xx

Apple pie, made by my nana. We had custard in winter and evaporated milk in summer.
