PS. I've thought of another thing you could try. Click on Start/Settings/ControlPanel. Open dial-up networking - Make New Connection and set up your Fast 4 connection manually as if it were a NEW connection. This might work if you used the Fast 4 automatic system of setting up. I am using Windos Me so if you are on XP the systme may be slightly different, but you get the idea."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
Fast 4 have slipped back again, these last three days, unable to connect in the peak time 7 - 10 pm. just like the bad old days. Have reverted to the free ISP connection. Shame, but I am definitely going BB when I return from hols."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

i did set it up manually,
still no luck!!
when i fone the no. from my handset, i get the squeaky noises for a short while and then the line goes dead.

finally managed a connection , after 4 weeks.
however is fast4 same as fast4.net
i can connect with fast4 but fast4.net will not connect , it shows an error message.
also can someone tell me if bt will charge me for connection or anything else?
i was with with aol before so did not get billed by bt for anything.Nice to save.0 -
In
start -- control panel --- "network connections" it should be showing as Fast4.
When you click the icon on your desktop to start dialing, the dial up box should show a 0808 number being dialed.
BT still charge you for line rental and also for any phone calls you make but not for the fast4 0808 connection.0 -
if i connect through msn will i be charged or if i connect thru internet explorer?Nice to save.0

Starting from scratch, all you can see is your desktop, when you click on your Fast4 dial-up icon and see the 0808 number being dialed and you establish a connection that`s you ready to "surf the net".
Once you are connected up you can use any "browser",
internet explorer,firefox,etc.
You can`t connect through IE or MSN,you can only browse them after you connect with Fast4.
Fast4 only gives you the connection to allow you to access the internet.0 -
I seem to only be able to get a 21.6 kbps connection both last night and today, rang the status line and there's no problems.
Just wondered what others are getting?0 -
I get 49.2
Have you tried disconnecting when it`s down and reconnecting straight away.
It could be certain areas are getting low connections speeds, someone else has also mentioned this.
If I had to guess who`s fault it is the money`s on BT0 -
