Migration to another ISP- Please all bear in mind that the 30 day notice period starts from when BT Wholesale TELLS Orange that you have migrated, not necessarily the same day as your actual service changeover - so you will have to pay both ISPs for 30 + days.Don't stop your DD to Horrange too early or you will get into the horrendous circle of debt chasing that others have had to endure.....once you are sure that you have covered this notice period - CANCEL!!!0

I'm about 5 months into an 18 month orange internet everywhere mobile broadband contract, for which i'm paying £9.79 per month. I havent had a letter about a price increase. If the increase is due to BT's fees going up and Orange passing these on to customers, does that mean my plan will stay the same because it's via a dongle not a landline, therefore not affected by the BT fees? I've looked on the website and they're still advertising this plan at the same price.
Ironically i would actually like them to put the price up if it gave me a means of escape! It's painfully slow and regularly loses connection, but i guess i'm stuck with it until to the end of the contract.0 -
its only for landline broadband as bt is charging orange for using there lines0

I dont understand why I havent got a letter informing me on a price hike on my orange broadband, I really got everything I could from Orange (never had a problem with them to be honest) I wanted a cheaper deal, so i "threatened" to leave and got 6 months free and 6 months are more than half proce reduction, down to something like £7.49. did the same with my parents but they got the letter informing them of the hike, but I havent, I live in Leeds, my mum lives in Oxford, could this be the reason?
I really want to go over to O2 to be honest, so am actively looking for this letter in my post0 -
Cant belive someone moved to talk talk, probably the only priovider worse than orange.0

Hi All
I got this letter too and I was fuming
The last few months my line has been dropping and I have been asking for help. They said they would do this and that and the next thing but nothing helps (they didn't even send a new livebox like they said they would). So I decided now I am out of contract to leave them
I have went to O2 and hopefully get a better service - already saving on price of internet and their service so far has been great - still to go live - but they have kept me up to date with texts all the time and their wireless box is waiting ready to go.
Kind wishes

) so I had to phone up to get it sorted so sadly won't get cashback... I'm so glad now that Orange sent me my increase letter or I probably wouldn't have got round to switching!

Looks like I am joining the ranks of the many in leaving Orange but I have a few questions.
First some background info:
I joined Orange Broadband in Sept 07 with a 2meg / 2gig usage package, Now either way, a 12 month or 18 month contract would have expired by now, so I'm not in a contract.
I received the changeover letter on 4th June (dated 2nd June) saying they'll move me over to the new package.
Unhappy with the price increase, I contacted Orange and got a MAC code from them and today set up a new account with plus net. All fine and dandy BUT I need (and have) given orange 30 days notice of my intention to change ISP, BUT by only by requesting the MAC.
Now this 30 days notice will effectively fall into the "New Package" that they want me to transfer to. And this is really the root of my query:
In orange's T+C, they say they will request any money that is owed to them after I leave them. That's fair enough. BUT:
1) Does the letter saying that they (Orange) are moving my package over mean that I am effectively starting a new contract with them?
2) If so, if it's 12 or 18 months, does that mean I'll end up owing them for the 12/ 18 months as they'd have viewed me as exiting this new contract early, simply because my 30 days notice runs into when the contract would start?
3) I guess the main question after this is: where do I stand legally if they do this?
Not being funny, but I have little faith in Orange, and I can see a big bill coming my way....
Why? They always seem to do the legal minimum, and it seems to be deliberate to catch people out and make things in their favour.
I started hating them last year when they took down my website and tried to force me to use their "web builder" rather than FTP.
This price hike really was the final straw...
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to read this and reply0 -
I'm another unhappy Orange customer leaving. I've started using Madasafish as my broadband provider. What worries me about Orange is that they're saying that the 30 days notice only started when they received notification from Madasafish that I had switched, NOT when I asked for my MAC code from them. I cancelled my direct debit with Orange because I didn't trust them to stop charging me and sure enough they've been trying to keep taking the monthly charge. Can anyone tell me where I stand legally? I think it's ridiculous that I effectively have to pay two providers over a notice period, the start of which I had no control over!
I'm in a similar position. I went live with Post Office BB on the 5th however Orange have charged me for calls made on the 5th and 6th due to come out in the next direct debit in September. Also when I phoned them they were aware my service has been transfered on the 5th but they couldn't guarantee I will be refunded for this in the next and final bill 6th sept.... why?? I moved off them and the calls made were on the new provider!!
As my new service went live on the day i'm billed by Orange I may be paying for another whole month of non use + the calls!! along with the new service!
Haven't a clue what to do.0 -

have a look at the t&cs for your respective broadband package - you should have had some with the bumph you got when you joined them. if you don't have a copy, see if the ones on their website are relevant to you - they have historical T&cs, as well as current ones. hope they go back far enough for you.
have a look at the termination section and see if they can really do what you are describing above - the definition of when the notice period begins.
that's what they have to go by.....0
