Poor you. At least its sorted now. Was dreading today as it is the 'live' day. Remembering what a hassle I had trying to link up the Orange livebox, expected to be here still trying next week, with at least six tries and four expensive helpline calls - as happened with the dratted livebox. Instead, all incredibly straighforward, and here I am using my brand new PO router - which, I have to say, is a darn sight smaller and easier to use! With a directional aerial which you can move to improve the signal! Also, because we are in a dip (never been able to use a freeview box as can't get a signal) the orange was very slow. This is not brilliant but is at least a little quicker. From download at 1.77 to 2.93 and upload from 0.35 to 0.37. Does anyone know if it is possible to improve on this by any means?
Anyway, hope everyone else moving to PO has such a hassle free changeover. Hopefully the billing will be as easy.
Did you receive an email and password to log into 'my postoffice' account? I tried to see if I could track the order and got locked out:rolleyes:- so that's another thing to sort once activated! All the billing things are there and I presume its the area you use to setup the phone options like 10 loved ones numbers etc.0 -
Doh, stupid me! Of course wireless is different! Just found my 'welcome pack' which actually arrived about 5 days after I signed up, but forgot about it as been away. The email you chose ---- @mypostoffice.co.uk is confirmed in the pack (as is a form to choose your 'loved ones') and they say the password will come separately with confirmation of payment details. Not yet received this. My download speed is now up to 3.07 which is the best I've ever had. The only small snag I've found up to now is that I had 2 phones for Orange and one of them desn't seem to want to play with PO, but the other one does so no probs.0

Just recieved this letter yesterday - not a happy bunny at all.
We will now be switching - Probably to 02 as they seem to have a good reputation.
Timing couldn't have been much worse from Oranges point of view either. The CC which they take payment from has gone out of date on their system (As happens every couple of years as new cards are issued) so we get a snotty e-mail including a £5 late payment penalty and saying we must phone some high tariff line. Not that there is an awful lot I can do about it as Dad, whose card it is, is on a boat for a week.0 -
My MAC arrived in an email today, it's also on the orange account page now, I phoned for it last Monday mid-day.0

I got my code of my accounts page too otherwise I'd still be waiting as I've had no email yet.
I asked for the code on 15th July.
Compare that with O2 who gave me an activation date and sent out my router 24 hours after placing an order !0 -
I phoned to request my MAC code yesterday. I plan to change from BT phone line and Orange broadband to Post office for both of them.
When I give the Post Office my MAC code when will Orange be disconnected? I'm worried aboiut having no internet as I run an online store.
Do I need to contact BT to cancel the phone with them or is this sorted by the Post Office when I sign up with them?
Thanks,
MichelleNevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -
Hi Chell,
My orange stopped on the specified day the PO started, so I guess they must cancel it from the date the PO states theirs will start. Which is fine as long as there aren't any problems! Mine was problem-free and much easier to set up than the dreaded 'livebox'. Orange told me that if I didn't have another package for phone before theirs finished, then I should contact BT or I wouldn't have a landline. However, as PO gave me a date before my 30 days with orange were up, I didn't do anything because I am on broadband plus home phone. You don't need to do anything about BT, PO should do it all for you. All has been fine, and broadband speed has actually improved. Hope all goes well for you too.0 -
Just received my letter, spoken to Orange. Clearly they do not care about our business. I was on 9.99 per month with 6 months free. Now they want to put it up to 19.99........ no chance!
I have requested my MAC key / migration code, should be with me in 5 working days. When I receive it o2 looks the best deal for me (local LLU) will let you know how I get on.
Can't believe that any company would be so stupid as alienate their customers with such sharp practices.
Over the next few months I will ensure that the other 3 family broadband accounts and the 5 Orange mobile phones that I set up for family and friends will all be moved.
Good business move Orange
An update, received MAC in 5 days, decided to go with Sky. Ordered via Sky website, easy as I have TV from them anyway. Order placed 17th July, router received 21st July with a switchover date of 27th July. Old
Orange line dropped at about 16:00, plugged new kit in couple of hours later came up first time. Does exactly what it says on the tin!
Well done Sky. :T0 -
I got that letter from Orange (from £14.67 - £19.99 up 34%) after being with them? since Freeserve for 9 years. I looked on MSE and decided on Talk Talk. Applied on-line, Bingo, Ta Ta Orange! Apparently according to the 0800 guy they do it all for me. This saves me £12+ a month. I don't watch films nor do I download 'monkey noise'. So if you only need the basic service look elsewhere.0

Not sure where you were reading then, all I see is people moaning about Talk Talk.:rolleyes:0
