Blackmidnight could you help me out by telling me your Twitter name as well? I have joined Twitter (yesterday) solely for comps, but have no idea what I am doing. Also how long do you have to leave a Tweet up for for it to count (the entirity of the comp length)? and what is retweeting???

I know I am behind the rest of the world on this but I really was trying to avoid and then couldn't resist the great comps!

will try and explain.. (and PM you username)

to make twitter easier to use I suggest people download tweetdeck (google it) this way you can actually see people who 'mention' you (i.e. if you win a comp). It also refreshes automatically which web twitter doesn't

if you tweet a comment, that comment exists forever unless you actually delete the tweet (which unless you've tweeted something like your address for the whole world to see you probably would never need to do...). Typing a new tweet in the 'what's happening' box doesn't delete the previous tweet so you don't have to worry about how long to leave it up - it will be up forever!

If you use twitter on the web then on the same line as where it says what time the tweet was made there is a 'retweet' buton . If you click on this you will basically copy what that person has said for your followers to see - this is retweeting.

On tweetdeck if you hover over the persons picthe bottom left arrow is the RT arrow and this does the same thing.

for the twitter comps that are posted on here people seem to have written what you have to tweet so just copy and paste this into the 'what's happening' box and that should be all you have to do.

    so...

    for this comp: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2274921&highlight=twitter

you would go to http://twitter.com/disturbiatees and click on follow

then in the 'what's happening box' type this: WIN 6 TEES OF YOUR CHOICE!! RT this, and follow @disturbiatees to take part! Winner announced on 16th Feb. www.disturbiaclothing.co.uk

Wow it's even more complicated than I thought! :rotfl::rotfl: I will do all that Blackmidnight, and hopefully it will all become clearer with a bit of use. Thank you very much for your help. See you on there :T

it really is quite simple when you get used to it :)

most of the comps for twitter posted on here give instructions too so hopefully it will all make sense when you try it!

I think once you just dive in and use it you start to get the hang of it. It's very easy to delete a "tweet" if you make a mistake too!!!! :p:D

I tried to download tweetdeck this morning and the flipping thing wont do it keeps giving me an error. I downloaded Adobe Air as well. That worked but not tweetdeck. Think my system must be too old as it is XP but from around 1998. Oh well hopefully I wont miss any RT's I need to reply to.
If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.

  • Hi all

Sorry if this has been asked before but I've searched and can't find anything obvious.

I won a competition with Glamour magazine for £500 of vouchers for Simply Yours, received an email telling me this and that I should get my prize within 30 days. 30 days has well passed and I emailled them and the guy said he'd chase up the promoter and email back in the middle of Feb, so I have done and I've not heard anything back.

I'm starting to think the comp was a bit of a swizz and I just wondered if other compers normally received their prizes from Glamour, and if I have no luck getting it if there was anywhere I could go for help, like some kind of monitoring agency that I could complain to?

Sorry for the small essay :)

thanks in advance for any help :D
