Yes!! I started out with those! Then they switched me to the Gold card in '97. Oh boy....

What would be the advantage of switching to the current Mastercard version?

I doubt there will be much on offer for switching - moreso just to get upto date! If you closed the gold down and opened a new one you'd get 15 months at 0% on BT's and 3mth at 0% for spends.....

Yes good points, thanks. Have hesitated acting over this, as the BT rate is useless to me currently, and even the 0% on purchases is currently not that urgent, but it's a good suggestion and I might visit my branch to sound them out on a) my behaviour score and its (incidental!) relevance to their mortgage offers, and b) the advantages of updating credit.

Checking in, though, to report back that I obviously got a happy underwriter who didn't hold mismanaged late payments in 06/07 against me, and the Coop Platinum has been approved. :T Not sure about limit for the time being - they may be cautious to start...

Good for monthly odd expenses and emergencies abroad. I feel a bit more confident about my credit credibility now, as I suspect this might possibly be a 'high-rating'-ish card ... :D
    Now: off-set mortgage *up-and-running*...

  • Have Abbey, Santander changed there credit agency?
They credit checked me 2 months ago for a basic account.
    No 'footprint' on Experian.
Last week asked for an upgrade. Credit searched, turned down.
    Asked Experian, nothing on file
    Puzzled?
