Just applied for a Co-op Platinum credit card, and they've searched Experian, but nothing else....

  • Has anyone else had Lloyds search their Call Credit file? Perhaps the front page can be amended?

It was 'we'll let you know' aka referred to underwriter, so waiting another couple of days. Advisor on phone did say that it might not be referred due to credit record (?), but not sure what else it would be - had a Co-op Smile account a long while back, for brief, fairly-administered time...

Mate just noticed your sig; on my new HSBC Credit Card it says that gold cards are chargecards and must be paid in full at the end of the month and there is no pre set limit.....

Is yours an older gold card? cheers

It's a card I've had since 1997, and that limit has been like that for a good few years too ... chargecard? Wow. Anything like that has completely passed me by....

Still no word from the Co-op. Hmph.

    Current limit

This is your current Credit Card limit.
This does not apply to Gold MasterCard accounts which are charge cards not credit cards.

    Available Credit

This is the current Credit Card limit less the current Credit Card balance and also deducting any transactions or authorisations on your credit card since the close of business on the previous working day. Please note that authorisations will not be displayed on Internet Banking.
This does not apply to Gold MasterCard accounts which are charge cards not credit cards.

Ah. Further point: mine's a Visa. (and definitely not operating like a chargecard - wd've noticed that!)

Thanks for the info, though. I really do need to renovate my credit cards. Have jettisonned Egg because of their stupidly high APR, and I have no need for the balance transfer deals now. HSBC has been stolidly reliable, but wouldn't mind an alternative...

If you swapped with HSBC you'd get their standard Mastercard..... When I used to bank with Midland back then they gave a Visa & Mastercard that shared the same limit - they were the best cards, one of each to cover all eventualities! Remember those.....?

Yes!! I started out with those! Then they switched me to the Gold card in '97. Oh boy....

What would be the advantage of switching to the current Mastercard version?
