V12 finance credit searches appear on your credit report as either Clode plc or Hitachi finance.

V12 provide a point of sale finance link to the two finance arms mentioned above and charge a nice £49.00 if your application for credit is successful;)

I am with you on this one Mr NID.

Nice info mate - how on earth did you find this out (or are you a V12 customer?).....

I am only going on logic and what the ICO stated - think about it, if they could do secret searches then all lenders would run a secret search program daily to weed out high risks and we'd never know! Its bonkers are totally unjustifiable and illegal.

The ICO just confirmed it - but thanks for the accurate data .

I can't see an answer to my query. What do I do?
In the first instance, contact your finance provider as detailed in your Welcome Letter. Your account will be with one of the finance providers listed here:

    Hitachi Capital Consumer Finance
    2 Apex View
    Leeds
    West Yorkshire
    LS11 9BH
    Tel: 0870 850 8116

    Clode Retail Finance
    19-20 Neptune Court
    Vanguard Way
    Cardiff
    CF24 5PJ
    Tel: 08701 608806

Use this form to contact v12finance.com if you need further help.

I applied for finance for My TV after HFC declined me.

Who are v12finance.com and what do you do?
We provide the technology that enables retailers to offer finance for the purchase of their products and services. The actual finance is provided by a third party finance provider who will administer your account and deal with queries once your account is live.

    Quick update:

Access to Callcredit (through checkmyfile) shows that no one has searched them at all...

Worth pointing out also that Virgin Media are now (as of about three months ago) reporting old Virgin, Telewest and Cable London account data to Equifax.
    Now: off-set mortgage *up-and-running*...
    *official Mortgage-free wannabe*
Then: Epic graduate debts paid off, 2006-2009

Whats does this mean? This was taken off the JD Williams website.

We may make periodic searches of Group records, credit reference and fraud prevention agencies to manage your account with us, to take decisions regarding credit, including whether to make credit available or to continue to extend existingcredit. These searches will not be available to other lenders for credit assessment purposes.

This is the monthly feeds it gives/received (i.e. your green [0]'s) and shows as a recorded enquiry, if they perform any searches. They are not seen by other lenders - only full searches are seen by other lenders, and a full search is performed upon application for borrowing in that being a new account or credit limit increase.

Its not secret searches lol  you'd see anything like as as an 'Unrecorded Enquiry' which means it is only visible to you (unrecorded).

It is possible for some public sector agencies to make 'invisible' searches - for example, the police, HMRC, SFO, SOCA etc. these are usually for criminal or serious civil investigations and not just for day-to-day tax matters etc.

Now i have to somehow get my credit history from my equifax credit report onto my experian account, depends if these companies will be willing to share the info with experian.
