Oh i know but i thought it was worth mentioning. I'd always assumed Virgin used experian and thought my credit rating there was in good heath til i saw it. It's non existant!:rotfl:

Now i have to somehow get my credit history from my equifax credit report onto my experian account, depends if these companies will be willing to share the info with experian.

Sorry maybe getting wires crossed here - Virgin CC use Experian, Virgin utilities (phone/cable/mobile) use Equifax. If it only shows on one file then thats all they use, you cannot transfer the info as it belongs to the lender. In effect you use this thread to search for credit relevant to your credit file so if Equifax has good markers then apply to companies who use equifax. If you have good experian then you stick with Experian searched companies - you follow me

There is no such thing as invisible credit search. Banks ect can do a quotation search which does not leave a footprint on the file but not a credit search. In a quotation search they would only obtain the composite credit score of the agency they search and use it to either add in their own scoring system or (depending on the institution) just use the raw data to 'pre-approve' customers (please note the later can also happen based purely on the insitution's internal scoring system and customer analyses).

  • Does anyone know how closely santander cards and abbey are linked? Obviously parent company, etc.... and more importantly which CRA's they search?

I bank with abbey and have recently managed my account well enough for them to up my O/Draft by £500...

Ive seen a few credit cards I want to apply for to help get rid of my vanquis card but Im not sure if its worth my while applying just yet because of the increase in my overdraft...

Northern Rock current account? They should use Experian, like Loans do but not 100% certain..... that would be the logic - anyone else able to confirm

    About 6 years.
  • They also did this one on my Call Credit file:

    Search Reference:XXXX
Search Organisation:Lloyds TSB Bank plc (SA,TAC,CT,SR ML)
    Search Unit Type:ltsbliveapi
    Name:MR XXXX
    Date of Birth:--
    Address:XXXX
    Search Date:03/06/2009
    Search Purpose:Administration Review

But they only did one search on Experian:

    Name:MR XXXX
    Address:XXXX
    Date of birth:XXXX
    Searched on:03/06/2009
    Searched By:LLOYDS TSB BANK PLC
    ApplicationType:Credit Card
