Its a cash back site with a good forum as well. You must sign up to it and start using it. https://www.rpoints.co.uk . Another is quidco.co.uk , this one is more generous with its cash back but do take the 1st £5 off you . I have earned £42 from rpoints this year, and have about £80 coming from quidco. Before you buy anything check if these site pay you for clicking through them . Mobile phones and insurance companies give you loads !!!0 -

If all you want to do is view the jpegs then I recommend you change the program used to view jpegs to be the great MS Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. You can still choose to use other tools to open and edit jpegs with later, but for simple viewing of a folder of photos I think the MS program is great. Sadly Dell have set the program used to be the Coral ones which they are probably paid a subsidy to do in the hope that people will choose the paid for upgrades they get prompted for.
My Computer / Tools / Foler Options / File Types, search in the box for for jpg & jpeg and then click on change and set the default program used to be Windows Picture and Fax viewer.
This is one of the things I did for my brother's new 1300 after wiping most of the included s/w from Dell, but leaving the Coral stuff in case he wanted to look at using it to edit photos once he's got to grips with the laptop.0 -

From the Dell site,
<LI class=point_normal>Express card slot: This system uses an ExpressCard Slot which does not support any cards available for PC Card.

Hi folks,
Still lovin these forums although my brain is hurtin a tad after scrolling thru bout 30 pages of info re best laptop offers.
Can someone please summarize best current deal ?
I think I'm interested in the Dell 1300 with slightly bigger screen, better battery (or is it bigger RAM) via the cash discount site (forgot the name) and free delivery (something about 'small business') oh and I believe there's summat about eCodes or reducing warranty to 90 days for discounts too
Ta.

I just tried the Quidco link to Dell to get the 4.5% cashback but it doesn't work. I made sure Java was enabled and deleted cookies first too but it still didn't work so emailed Quidco !!
btw, did I also read that a normal PCI card doesn't work in this machine as it has an 'Express Slot' or summat ? If so, is there an adapter cause I have 2 PCI cards.
Otherwise should I get a different model......gawd it's baffling

You know that Quidco pay you the 4.5% back about 2 months down the road, after they've been paid, don't you?
Dell change their offers every Thursday, and none of their laptop offers seem particularly great this week. Might be best to wait until Thursday...Thanks to all who post constructively.

Thanks Roger, yeah I figured that out. That's fine - the best things in life are worth waiting for - like good savingsThey currently have a £30. discount before 5th April which seems good.
I'm still hoping for a reply to my summary question above :undecidedyou know when you're getting older - the wife says, "let's go upstairs and make love" and you reply, "I can't do both" !!0
