Does any one know what type of cable/adapter I need please?
As stated above I need mine for use in aircraft.
Dell have yet to produce an adapter/cable for this model (I checked in UK and USA) however one of their other laptop adapters fits OK. The input required is 19vDC 3.16 amps.
The price £126.19!!!! I know people have warned us about Dell charging high prices but that is a joke.
Anyway I have found one and had it delivered. It is a Trust Notebook Power Adapter Car-Plane PW-1200p(14129). It has several voltage settings(including 19v) several plugs to fit various sockets, a 2 year warranty.
The price £16.80 including VAT. I ordered mine on-line from infotechshop.
I have tried it in the car and it works fine - although I found driving at the same time a little distracting0 -
Can anybody recommend a wireless mouse to go with this laptop?0

I have purchased the 1300. I'm not very tech minded. Should I be doing something re a Restore CD? I've already had one crash but luckily was able to do a System Restore. Apparently you can set the machine to 'hibernate' to make sure it's protected if you are going to lose power? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.0 -

I wouldn't waste your time because you'll end up embarassing yourself.
That particular offer finished over a week ago, which is why Dell are no longer honouring the price. They use the same eValue codes for different offers, which is why the same code now brings up a different offer.
Would you go into Boots and ask for a Buy One Get One Free deal on a product which was on promotion six months ago?0 -

I think you will find that the ongoing problem I refer to is dells customer service, the way the call handlers lie to you, put the phone down on you and find any other reason not to sell you a product at the advertised price!
I was recently called by one of watchdogs researchers for preliminary research, I dont think anyone will be embarrased other than Dell.0 -

Managed to get the dvd drive to recognise all cds now, I had to connect to the internet and download a good lot of new software drivers. (why oh why on a brand new laptop cant these already be installed?)
On another note, it was a little slow on multitasking so bought 512MB of extra memory from crucial for only £36 delivered by special delivery!(runs like a dream now, can play MMRPG's and surf with no ill effects). To compare, if I had bought an extra 512MB from dell they wanted £170!! Does anyone see how dell make their money yet?
