Just wondering if you have to pay full price for the holiday in order to use the vouchers?:
Yes you have to pay the full Cosmos brochure price. We had saved up £900 worth of deal vouchers. The Cosmos website was doing the same holiday for £600 less than we had booked at brochure price. So we still saved £300 but not such a good deal as it first looks.0 -
Sorry for the length of this post, but really need soem help as my daughter is still waiting. This is a copy of an email sent to Tesco - and copied to Watchdog - las Thursday and I appreciate it has been a abnk holiday weekend but I still have not received a reply so any help would be appreciated.
I recently received my Tesco Clubcard vouchers and saw that I could exchange them for 'double-up' rewards to be used in the 'Toys and Bikes' section of Tesco Direct.
I exchanged £40 of clubcard vouchers for £80 of rewards as we wanted to buy a new bike for our daughter who was about to turn 9 years old.
When I eventually received the rewards - a suggestion would be to email the codes thus saving paper and 8 days of waiting - I went on to the Tesco Direct website to order the bike we had chosen.
I selected the bike from the "age 8-11" category and entered all the electronic codes.
All the codes were accepted, but none of the amounts were taken from the order total. All the discounts were held over to use another time as the computer informed me that the item I had ordered was not a valid selection for use with these vouchers.
The voucher clearly states...'ALL CHILDREN'S TOYS INCLUDING OUTDOOR TOYS AND CHILDREN'S BIKES'.
I telephoned Customer Services to be told that I should speak to Freetime and was given the number.
I telephoned Freetime and was told to telephone Customer Services and was given the number.
I re-telephoned Customer Services to be told that the bike I had chosen - remember from the age 8-11 category on the website - was NOT a child's bike and therefore did not qualify. In order to qualify as a child's bike it had to have stabilisers!!!
This is not only the most ridiculous thing I have heard, but also a complete misrepresentation and fraudulent.
The bike is in fact described as a 'girl's' bike NOT a 'ladies' bike therefore even you concur that it is a child's bike.
I am left in the situation that my daughter's birthday has now passed so her new bike is eagerly awaited and I have £80 worth of totally useless vouchers.
I await your speedy response to this email and a satisfactory result for my daughter.

Has anyone bought butlins vouchers with Tesco points? Im keen to find out because I have £40 on Pigsback so if I add £10 of my Tescos that'll give me £80 toward a Butlins holiday...(then I just need to figure out how to use them together and I might get to go on my first ever Butlins holiday:) )0

This is clearly a good deal for us bargain hunters. However, yesterday I 'doubled-up' a £5.00 CCard voucher for a £10.00 clothing voucher having spotted a swimsuit on offer. Tesco are advertising this as £15.00 reduced to £10.00 with a big double-up sign above. It was at the checkout that I was unable to purchase this though as Tesco are still adjusting the VAT at the till, essentially any products you see priced at £10.00, £20.00 etc will come in less at the till (including 3 for £10 wines). Therefore, you cannot use your double-up voucher unless you spend over the value.
When I questioned the manager I was told that it is a head-office issue despite the advertising clearly being misleading, there was nothing he could do. They will not return your clubcard voucher and cancel the double up voucher as gthe original voucher has been redeemed. I do not normally buy clothes from Tesco and would be stuck with the double up voucher and have lost my original fiver. After much kicking and screaming (!) the store refunded my fiver onto a giftcard, the problem here is that it is now simply a fiver - cannot be doubled up for another department or more importantly x4 on their other deals. I am effectively £15.00 out of pocket now.
The moral of this story....CHECK THE PURCHASE PRICE AFTER THE VAT ADJUSTMENT BEFORE DOUBLING UP!!!!
Top marks Tesco for finding a way to mislead us and get us to spend more than we intended!:T
I think I'm extra confused? I was under the impression that if it was under (lets say item is £9) or over (say £11) then you could still use the voucher and either forego the £1, or pay in an extra £1. Is this not the case?0 -

Thanks - I thought it would have a catch somewhere, and definitely not great if you are looking for a late deal! Sound like I'll get better value on something else....0 -
Sorry if this has been answered before but I need some clarification with regards to converting the vouchers Tesco sends into the clubcard deals: Can one use vouchers from somebody else, i.e can I use Gordon Brown's vouchers and convert them for deals?
you have to hand over your clubcard at the time and i guess they check, so proberly not0 -
I was an avid user of the Tesco Clubcard schemes as I thought they're really good value, but since moving from Reading to Belfast 4 months ago, I'm now having some niggly doubts.
For a start, a lot of the 'deals' seem to concentrate on days out and restaurants etc in big cities and large towns. This was not a problem at all when I lived in Reading and I was able to travel to London for treats occasionally.
Now that I'm living in Belfast, it's a whole new ball game. For a start, hardly any of the restaurants have branches here (with the exception of La Tasca, but I believe they are about to pull out of the Clubcard scheme this summer). Hardly any of the annual pass/ theme park/ days out packages seem to reach as far as these shores so I think we're stuck with using the vouchers as money for payment, but this only takes us as far as 2x their face value, not 4x as before.
I'm a bit miffed as I still do my main shop at Tesco, have one of their credit cards and use that as my main shopping card but now I feel I've been discriminated against just because I live in Belfast and not on the mainland.
Is it just me, or does anyone else feel irked?

I do get cheesed off about the full price thing but I am happy that Mr T will pay for my 1 week in Cyprus in 4* h/b and I only have to pay £200 extra . If it was not for clubcard I would be a stay at home.
