I went to Edinburgh Gyle and was near the front of the queue when I joined about twenty past eight. I got:
* Teatowel
* Cufflinks
* Tie
* Mug
* Brooch
I really like the cufflinks, and the mug is amazing too!
I (luckily) have a lovely boss who knows I am bargain-obsessed and let me start later todayI'm working on her to let me do the same on Friday :rotfl:
Hope you all get lovely bargains tomorrow!0 -
Basingstoke M&S very organised, got there just before 9, orderly queue, nicely set out once you got inside, on offer today there were the holiday items, like beach ball, luggage tags, frisbee & sweets. Im going back tom, happy shopping everyone x....YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY

Really nice to see a poster talking about how well organised the store I work in was, as I was one of those setting it up last night
. Our store had people queueing from 7, we opened at 9 and everything was gone by 11! Great atmosphere outside - we had a one-man band, and a member of staff dressed up in an animal costume.
Lots of people trying to jump the queue, alas, but our staff & security were swift at nabbing them and pointing out which way the back was.
A bit sad that some customers did not want to give to charity - we actually took a complaint about that! - as none of the proceeds go to the store - it's all for a good cause (Local guide dog charity in ours). But many other very lovely people came through, and there was a real buzz. Thoroughly enjoyed it, made me proud to work for M&S. Will be taking some of the comments & ideas on here back to the store to improve tomorrow's bazaar.
Only one very vocal disgruntled customer who (it later turned out) saw every single manager in the store to complain about the items, and then to complain that her 12.50% discount from the peel & reveal card was not enough! What can you do, eh?
The food items for tomorrow will be different, but the other items will be the same. Looking forward to tomorrow - hope to see some of you there!0 -

I thought the things I bought we pretty decent for a penny. what are you expecting? i donated a £1 and got 2 x rosy apple sweets (which i shared with my work collegues), a can of ginger beer, a mug and a teatowel. decent offerings for a £1 i'd say!
I went on the way to work at the monument store. Started queuing at 7:20, store opened at 7:30 was out again by 8:10. Slow queue but thats because they were controlling people which was better than the scrum it could have been.0 -
live in portsmouth so popped along 2 m&s early,or so i thought,big queue and was told that only the 1st 200 people were able 2 have the 1p offer! what was left was absolute trash,not bothering 2 go 2 the next 2 days 1p "offers".0

In ipswich it was great fun, the manager and staff kept popping out to the queue to tell us what was going on then sold us m & S coffee/tea for £1/35 tea £1.50 coffee late etc all for the charity, so we could drink as we waited. We're pleased with our goodies and it was a laugh too. Well done M & S and Ipswich branch!0

Am I the only person in the world completely underwhelmed by this whole gimmick?0
-
No - there is no way I need another 5 bits of tat in my house!!
Even free. I just can't see the point, especially as most of them seem to be marked so you can't give them as pressies without being known as a complete cheapskate!
