  • I have been a customer with Orange for about 4/5 years i am on a contract and last year i was offered an upgrade to an 18 month contract with a better phone (i think it is raccoon) and i pay £35 as a set charge and what ever i owe on minutes i go over on.

I was made redundant from work in June of this year and the money i got from there was spent moving house and re-locating so we could be near where my partner works, i recently rung Orange to explain my financial situation as i am struggling to find work and i'm a student.
The first time i was more or less told they didnt accept sob storys.

The second time i was told that i can reduce my bill each month by ringing up every month and asking to go down to the next lower tarrif which is £5 less every time, and not to use my phone as much, i have 5 months left on my contract(inclucing this month)

is there anyone out there who can help or advise me on what to do to lower the tarrif / costs more.

  • I currently pay £30 a month for 500 texts and 150 minutes; I rang Orange three weeks ago and asked for a PUK code, and was told to ring back today (now I'm in my last 30 days of contract) as I would be able to 'negotiate a special deal'. I was pretty sceptical, but I rang today and quoted 3's £20 tariff (1000 texts and 100 minutes); the woman I spoke to was really friendly and told me I can have 600 minutes and unlimited texts, PLUS a Nokia 6300, for £20 a month! I must admit I'm pretty shocked by this; I feel like the cat that got the cream!

The only thing I'm puzzled by is that I have to ring back on my last day of contract to actually seal the deal; she gave me her name and the reference number of the deal to quote when I ring, but I'm still nervous. Has anyone else had to do this?
  • I upgraded my phone with orange using this method and with a deal i had taken from dialafone. Orange were very good however always take the persons name as i experienced a brillaint deal which they went back against. In the end i wangled;
1000 minutes, unlimited txts plus 1000 (they made an error on my first bill so they added 1000 additional pointless texts so in toal i have 4000 a month) all for £25 a mth.

    Hi all,

I have been on the T-Mobile Flext 35 with Web & Walk with 25% off for the past 17 months paying £31.88/month. Excellent tariff.

I called up yesterday as you can upgrade in the last month of the contract. I really wanted the HTC Kaiser (sold on T-Mobile as the MDA Vario III). It can be bought SIM Free for around £450!!

Initially the T-Mobile website could let me upgrade online for £260! I called T-Mobile disconnections team and said that was way too much and was offered it for £60 and I would get £5 off the non-25% discounted tariff of £42.50. That would have meant I paid about £6 more per month. Said that wasn't good enough so he changed it to keep the 25% discount and give me the phone for £80.

Excellent deal, a brand new released £450 phone for £80 and keep my 25% Flext discount. Just wish it would hurry up and arrive!!

    Hi
My discounted 02 Tarif 30 expired and they sent me a new bill for £30 which was previously charged £9.07 a month (discounted from previous year from £15 a month).

I explained that there was no way I would pay any more than I had been paying as my calls don't warrant it. She reduced price straight down to £15 a month. I told her I was still not prepared to pay more than the prvious year so she offered me £100 cash back which would have worked out to just under £8 a month inc VAT. I told her that at that rate I could afford to buy my own phone and buy a cheap PAYG sim card. She then offered me a furthr discount of £10 per month for 3 months.

    It works out like this
    £15 x 12 months = £180
    £100 cashback = (£100)
    £10 discount for 3 months = ( £30)
Total to pay over 12 months = £50 + VAT

Works out to under £5 a month.

and it only took about 10 minutes bargaining over the phone.

  • Hi, i'm new to this site but just got off the phone with o2 with some good news.My contract is up within a week, so i did a bit of homework looking at different deals on the net, and armed with this info i phoned o2.
My old contract was for 12 months @ £15 per month, with 200 mins & 50 texts. I told the girl i wanted a new contract with them and could they match a deal by Orange, after a bit of talking i could tell i wasn't going to get this deal or anywhere near it, so i asked her to disconnect me.
She put me through to disconnections and i started the bargaining game again with a new person. At first he couldn't get close to a deal so i told him that i'd just cancell and go with Orange, he asked me to wait a minute then came back with this deal - A new Samsung G600, 400 mins anytime X-net, 500 texts on a 18 month contract for the same price as before -£15 per month!!!:j
I was overjoyed with this deal and advise everyone to go have a go and get a deal that they are happy with. Many thanks to this site and it's members.

I recently did this and somehow managed to score the oddest deal I've ever had.

Basically my new contract is thus: -

    200 anytime, any network minutes
    200 text messages

    A month.

Free for 10 months, one payment of £30 in month 11. So that basically works out at £3 a month.

The only drawback is no new phone, but I'm happy with the one I've got and at £3 a month you can't beat it (the text messages are invaluable to me, I use them more then minutes, but 200 Xnetwork minutes do come in useful)

    WOW! that was easy...
just rang up orange and told them i thought i was paying too much, so they offered me more minute and more text for a tenner less a month. what's more as my contract only finishes in a fortnight, they'll give me a ring then to process the upgrade so i don't have to pay an upgrade fee. £120 a year saving and i get to flog my old mobile for a bit of extra cash... thanks Martin!
oh and i also get a brand new phone/mp3 player... yay!
  • hi...
i renewed by 3 contract in april 2007.. they really give me great deal 12 month contract extension.. nearly 11 month upfront cashback(so ultimately paid £15 for 12 months) but same minute and no new phone.. anyway it was old news. but 3 still giving lots of similar upgrades for 18 month and 12 month upgrades some of my friends got the same deal last month...

now my o2 contract is going to end on 18 dec. and i call o2 customer care they told me i have to call a month before end of contract (18 nov,2007) but i am not sure about which number to call to. i am on £35 per month tariff with 500 min/100 txt and it was 18 month contract but i averagely paid £50 per month for going over free calls. so anybody knows is there any website where i could check the available upgrades for me.. and suggests me what maximum upgrades i can have any upgrade similar '3's(i doubt)..

any possible upgrades which i can ask.. i was thinking for free nokia n81 (or other gud new phone) and also want to reduce the monthly tariff to nearly £20 or less....

waiting for suggestion guys and number where i could make call for upgrades...
    thanks in advance
