Not sure if this has been mentiond before ,but if you are an existing o2 customer the cost of calling Europe can be free for the sender if the recipient is also an o2 customer, provided they call from their selected postcode. This is done by using the monthly allowance (on PAYG) of 500 free minutes if a £10 top-up is paid each month, also the cost of calls to landlines are free within the UK if the postcode selected option is used.
Hope this helps save a few pennies to MSE forumites.

It may state on the site link that international calls are £1:50 a minute , but you can be certain what I stated before is correct as my wife and I use this little freebie regularly when I visit Spain and she wishes to keep in contact and it costs me just 12p a minute to receive her calls.0 -
I just rang O2, it's now time for my upgrade/renewal.
Current contract:- £30/month,
- Samsung D900,

My next call will be leaving, asking for my leaving port code thing...
EDIT: just rang up, asked for my PAC code, and it's on it's way! so much for 4 years of service @ £30/month0 -

I am profoundly deaf and I can only text messages on mobile phones. I cannot hear on the phone at all and yet there is not one company apart from Virgin who would offer a good package for text messages only. I have to take a package with text messages and air time as well which can be expensive for me. Does anyone know where I can get a good deal for text messages only. Many thanks.

Finally, maybe the best of the lot, is T-mobile's "Text Appeal" pay as you go tariff that I've just spotted that does texts for 3p. That's no contract and 333 texts a month for a tenner IF YOU USE THAT MANY. So for you, I think probably the best deal! The thanks button is here to the right. Have you looked at T-Mobile's Flext plans? You get a monthly allowance that can be used on text mesaging or calltime. At the moment they are offering £5 off a month on their tariffs, so their Flext 20 is only £15 a month (that's on an 18 month contract)

All in all, for Karenina, I think the "text appeal" plan PAYG plan is the best though there is no phone included not being in a contract is a massive boon in my opinion...

And, if I'm not mistaken, if you top up with a tenner on a Friday you get unlimited texts for free all of that weekend! BONUS!The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

Thank you MSE!
Just got off the phone to Orange. I have never had any problems with the service provided, but I always felt I was paying too much.
I joined in May 2005 and I had a deal with 200 free minutes and 500 texts a month, costing me £30 a month. Thanks to extra bundles such as photo messaging and internet (which I never used), that price creeped up to £41.
Thanks to the bartering techniques (and a bit of Scouse cheek!), I now have 800 free minutes, unlimited texts and it's only costing me £25! Added to that, I get a new phone and a magic number - and one month's free internet on evenings and weekends...and I don't have to change phone numbers!
I'm happy!0 -
I am currently paying £25 a month for 200 mins and 500 texts. My contract finishes on saturday and rang today to try this money saving technique out. I told them i want a free upgrade and reduce my bill to £15-20. They told me because they're a 'virtual network' (whatever that means) and she mentioned something about being owned or run by TMobile they are limited to the amount of tarriffs they can offer and can't go changing them for individual people. Is this right? I asked several times if there was anything they could do to keep me as i've been a customer for 7 years but they said unfortunately not. Tmobile here i come!0
