  • I've been on an 18month Flext25 + WebnWalk business contract that's just reaching its end. It was a special deal that gave me an extra £20 pm of credit on top of the normal £60 allowance for £25pm + £7.50 for the WebnWalk, so £32.50 pm in all.

The nice folk at T-mobile sent me a letter saying that if I signed up for another 18 months retaining my existing phone they'd knock a tenner off my contract cost. All I had to do was text a number to them.... so I ignored it!!

Last week they phoned me, the nice lady I spoke to had no idea a letter had been sent and I didn't tell her what it said!! After a brief chat she offered me £20 pm off if I was happy to keep my phone and sign up to 18 months again.

I'd done no more than say I'd consider it while I look at what Virgin can offer me when I was offered £25 off !!!!! Yep, £25 off, all I had to pay was my WebnWalk :rotfl:

And thinking it was all a dream I said I'd consider it and call back in a couple of days.......... I did ............and it wasn't a dream :j.

Now I'm not saying T-Mobile will, or could even afford to do this for everyone, but depending on your call usage (to be fair mine was very low so they probably felt guilty having taken £32.50 a month), if you're nice and smile while you chat to them...... you too might just get a stunning deal..... so long as their management haven't read this!!!!
    Cheers T-Mobile,
  • I was with O2 using the Leisure 15 tarriff at £15 per month (SIM only). This gave me 1500 off peak minutes (7pm to 7am) and 500 free texts a month. However the off peak minutes were no longer of any use as I was needing my phone more during the day than the evening and calls were 20p per minute out of the tarrif. I also found during the 3 months I was on this contract that I used a maximum of 140 texts per month.

I decided to go with 3 and pay £24 a month for 900 mix and match minutes. O2 had nothing like this for this price.

I phoned O2 and told them I was cancelling the contract and why. The guy told me that I had only used 200 minutes in the past month and that the phones on offer at 3 were not the most modern (his words, not mine). I told him htat I had restricted my use of the phone due to the high cost and that was why I was leaving O2. I said that I needed around 700 minutes of talktime and 150 texts per month.

He then offered me an 18 month contract with 1000 anytime cross network minutes (which roll over for 3 months if not used) and 150 texts per month for £25 per month and asked me to chose a new phone. I said that i had a perfectly serviceable phone at the moment, so he then credited my account with £180. So effectively over the 18 months of the contract I'll be paying £15.00 a month - the same as now!

I'm a happy bunny :D but I'll need to remember to re-negotiate the contract in 18 months time as the £10 a month discount will finish then

i got the upgrade u today as well from O2... i was earlier on £35 per month with 600 month/200 txt...but my monthly bills were normally above £55.. and call them to cancel;) (earlier i called them for upgrade they told me to call on 18 dec:mad:  ).. person on the otherside of phone seams to be nice guy.. and talking in really nice one(10 points to 02 for this always/////0points to orange//// and also used 3 i will give them 6 points) asked me reason for leaving.. i told him i am getting cheap contract outside.. he told me if i give him mintue he will let me know upgrades available for me.. and he offered me same tarrif as you specified.. but i was not in mood to pay 25..............:o .. so i asked him for cheaper one he gave me £20 per month-- 750 cross network mintues/ 100 txt and 2000 mintues for o2 to o2 networks. this seames to me really reasonable(to be frank i don't go for any more bargaining it seams to be really nice anyway i was paying more than £60 for these mintue earlier.so atleast £30 saving ) and now everything was depends upon the phone which they can give me .. so i asked for n81 he told its free for me.. now i asked for sony w910i he told me its free too...... now i was thinking about more expensive (n95 strikes me) so i told him i want n95.. he told me its free as well.. he asked me which one model you want one comes with 8gb card and one with standard 1 gb.. both are free for your upgrade(looks stupid question to me)... obivsly i go for n95 with 8gb card(i check market cost on pricerunner and it market price is from 315 to £549).. so ultimately i got £20 pm rent and 750 min/100 txt/unlimted o2 calls/ and n95 with 8gb card... so if i consider present cost of n95 even 315 then i am paying nearly £3 to them every month.. sound really resonable to me.. wht u think guys.....

  • Hi y'all

    This is my story:

My contract ends on 7 Jan, but because I've been busy working I forgot to call them up on 7 Dec so called today (ie a week later). Number one, I was a bit annoyed that they didn't call me coz they called me last year to offer an upgrade..

Anyway, I called the UPGRADE number, spoke to some Northern guy, who was fairly nice, although very stubborn to give me a good deal. He said I called a bit too late, so the best he can do is give me a 30 DAY contract for 200 mins, 200 text for £15 and no new mobile (obviously) (I was on 200 mins, 100 text for £15 and got a new mobile). He said it's because I called too late, and once I change to this 30 DAY contract I can re-negotiate. I told him I was unhappy with this and hung up.

I researched a bit on here and found out someone got an 18 months contract that works out to be £5 a month, and after speaking to a friend, I decided to call Customer Service and to be put through DISCONNECTIONS to see if I can get a better deal.

The dude was very very nice to me, I told him about the other offer, and I also expressed that I was very unhappy that no one called me to offer an upgrade, and I have been with O2 for several years - and I had such a crappy upgrade offer after being loyal for so long!! I added that it would be a shame to leave but there are better deals out there and I'm quite happy to get my PACK code right now and leave O2.

He just said 'hmm..interesting'. He asked me what I wanted, so I told him that I do not wish to pay more than what I'm paying, and I'd like to have more mins and texts. I'm not fussed abt getting a new phone.

    So - he offered me:
    400 xnet mins
    1000 texts
Free unlimited mins to other O2 phones
    18 mth contract
    £15 a month

And he asked if I wanted a phone or not. I said which Nokia ones are available? He said - Nokia N73, or Nokia 6500 classic. I said I wasn't sure, and he said if my current one is working and I'm not fussed, he'll credit £180 into my account - since I had a calculator in front of me, it works out 5o be £5 a month! :j :rotfl: Which means, with the money saved I'll just get a new phone once I get my first paycheque as soon as I graduate in July!! :) Maybe an iPhone? :) Btw, just remember that VAT isn't included, so the credit back would work out at about £153, and not £180, but that's still about £6.50 a month which is FAB in my opinion!! :T

I was pleased with this and accepted the offer!!! So - my advice to O2 customers is to call O2 disconnections, and not the upgrade line. Best of luck to you all, and don't give up!!!
  • I have a bit of a long story and I must admit that I feel quite stupid that it happened to me, but here goes.....
In September, after a horrible year having been forced to sell our family home following divorce my 3 young sons and I went to Turkey for a well deserved 2 week break. I was careful not to use the mobile for telephone calls as I knew that this would not be cost effective. However my partner did call me on a few occasions to make sure that we were ok, and I sent some texts. The friends that were with me were on Orange and had all the texts they sent included in their allocation - I stupidly theought that mine would be too - how wrong could I be? The bill arrived and was for over £140!!!! my monthly line rental is usually about £35!!! Even my partner who called me only had a bill of £65. I have not used the phone since and have made several calls trying to get them to reduce this bill - all no luck - they wouldn't even reduce the tariff while I sorted the disagreement out. Does anyone else think that this is unfair? or am I just being totally unreasonable? The other thing is that I keep being put through to a call centre in India and unfortunately they def dont understand me at all or my oint of view. I have also emailed and received no reply.
Now I have been told that I will get a call back within 48 hours from the collections dept - IF they return my call what tact should I take????

    Any help would be appreciated.:confused::confused:

    hi all,

here goes my 1st reply on this forum.
ive been on orange for all most 10 years and had only about 3 to 4 phones as upgrades or new contracts..

on reading the forums from money savingexpert a few months ago regarding getting a deal with your current network i put the info to good use.…

i rang orange upgrades 1st and always got a bad deal (expensive deal) with that option so i rang up disconnection's and said '3' have got a blinding offer all for £15 a month (loads of calls, text and decent phone), orange said they could do a selection of good phones ( 3G ,smart ect ) for free and got loads of free calls and text messages in the bundle. … i picked the w910i so i think im quite pleased with the results owing to the great advice of this forum,
the phones got a couple of issues but i guess thats
    for another forum,lol
    thanks guys.:rotfl:
  • This is a fantastic method, il start my story at the begining, i was paying £80 a month bill from being on the wrong tariff so i rang O2 and used this method, i managed to get myself 500 X-net anytime mins and 100 txts for £17.50 pm, plus a free samsung D900 (at the time this phone had only been out a short time) over the year this saved me a small fortune. 12 months later however, my line rental jumped up to £40 pm so i rang up 02 again today, telling them i wanted to swap to "3", after a bit of bartering they offered my 500 anytime xnet mins, 500 txts, unlimited o2 to o2 mins and a free LG Viewty, 25 quids per month, im very happy :D
  • O2 are very good at making deals.

I had a 600mins 100txts plan (foolishly paying an extra £6 on Insurance!) and it averaged about £45-£50 a month which is a lot! My last bill was £67! I called them up and spoke to the first guy who offered me very little in the way of a deal and was a little rude actually. So I told them I'd think about what they offered (£27.50 a month for the same minutes and texts plan).

I called them back two minutes later and spoke to some other guy and after a lengthy chat (for free on my o2 handset) got them down to £20 a month, no contract, 600 mins, 1000 texts and unlimited free calls to other o2 customers as well as free calls to landlines on weekends.

As a bonus I was told that I may be able to upgrade to an iPhone in the next six months on a 'special' tariff to reward my 3-4 years loyalty. Which is great because I love Apple products.
