i was not using my phone much and so in my mind i had decided to go pay as you go.
i rang 3 to establish when my contract ended but in doing so pressed the option for "leaving 3".
a lady in bombay advised me when my contract was ending and then asked why i wanted to leave 3.
After explaining she told me she would put me on another tarrif.
£1.13 per month for 500 mins any time, any network plus 100 free texts.
£1.13 to be paid at the end of the 12 months.
£13.56 per year.
i said i would be stupid to not accept this offer so i went with it.
they banged a load of money into my account and i was very happy.
sadly they are not doing that now so i will probably go pay as you go.

Last year I was using my phone, different tarriff. They offered me some deals but nothing spectacular. I requested PAC code and they offered me an incredible deal...
£0.00p for the year.
Yes you read right- NOTHING. All I had to do was keep my current phone and they credited my account..
Zoom to 2008.
I called up initially and was offered new phone, 18 month contract £15 for 500m&100t. Sounds good?
No.
I checked- a new person could get the same deal. Had some discussions.
Got !!!!ed off. This is start of March, contract due to end on 25.
Requested PAC code.:D
Today was called. Said happy to keep current phone. What could they offer?
They have given me 500m&100t again. No new phone.
£5 a month.:T And supposedly for life :rotfl:
Now lets be realistic- I don't think they'll go any lower on the line rental... But I have a 14 day evaluation period- so might call up and ask about a new handset...
Worst they can say is noTrying to save money to err... spend it...0 -
I am with T-Mobile who I am very happy with. I was on the Flext35 tariff (£35/month, 18 month contract) but not using all of this free minutes etc. I called up within the last month of the contract asking for a PAC code and was put through to "Customer Retentions". I was then offered the same Tariff on a 18 month contract for £15/month (£180 worth of credit) or £10/month on a 12 month contract (£120 worth of credit). They also gave me a brand new Nokia 6300! I opted for the 12 month contract as this covered my monthly usage. I saved £300 per year plus got a new mobile

I don't use my mobile very much and called o2 to cancell and told them why.
the first offer they made me still meant that i had no good reason not to go on pay as you go as they were simply offering me more minutes and texts, which i wasn't using.
in the end they offered me a rolling contract, with no minimum term. 59 minutes a month across networks and I can't remember how many texts. Unlimited o2 calls and a monthly price of £10. the bonus for me is that almost everyone I know is on o2.0 -
It took 3 phone calls to Vodaphone's 'disconnection' department to negotiate them down, but yesterday they agreed to 750 minutes to any network, 250 texts and a shiny new phone for £25 a month (a deal that is currently on their website for new customers only)!
It is definitely worth persisting!! :rotfl:0 -
Am very pleased. My "10 months free on 12 months" contract has just finished with Carphone Warehouse / O2 and the retentions department offered me the following 2 deals. Both are non-automatic cashback deals (so I have to send in three of my bills at the end of the year) but both are pretty good:
Option 1 (the one I went for):
£40 / month, 600 minutes + 500 texts, new phone, 12 month contract with 11 of the 12 months free by cashback redemption.
Equivalent monthly cost: £3.33.
Option 2:
Same as option 1, but no new phone and with 12 months free on the 12 month contract by cashback redemption.
Equivalent monthly cost: £0.00
Possibly I should have gone for option 2 as being better value, but it's always quite fun getting a new phone :-)0 -
mine was with O2, 700 minutes a month, 100 text, unlimited calls with other O2 customers, 10 pound a month
No need to do any cashback.
This happened early this Jan:beer:
a nice change to my cashback deals, finally I do not need to do any cashbacks, hooray!back to London;):beer:0 -
oh,btw, I used to be cashback-crazy, so I have 8 SIMs at the moment,
5 contracts, 3 PAYG, which gives me a lot of space for negotiation.
If I do not get a good deal, I simply turn my back on them:)back to London;):beer:0 -
I finally phoned Vodafone today, as I am 11 months into my 12 month contract.
Was paying - £30 for 300 minutes and 250 texts
Offered - £15 for same deal if I took out another 12 month contract
Nice saving, but in my case I would be stuck if my handset broke, so I went elsewhere for a similar deal without a contract0 -
Got a text from three saying my contract is due an upgrade yet I still had till 21st june till it officially ran out. Supposedly becausei was a loyal customer, been there over two years.
I decided to ring them up, got put through to mumbai call centre (are there no british call centres??) they weren't very helpful, the best they could offer with the n95 8gb was flext 35 and an 18 month contract for £35 or 1100 mix an match (1 min= 1 text) for £35. Decided this was way more than i wanted to pay.
Ended up getting put through to disconections and they still wouldn't budge on the above deals! I ended up having to choose a different phone (6500 classic) and 1100 mix and match for £20/month over 18 months. (this deal is being offered to new customers)
My question is whether i should cancel this new deal and wait till my contract is officially ended and try for a better deal or whether i've got a good deal.
15 months ago i was offered the n93 with flext35 for £26/month but they wouldn't match this...
What do i do?0 -
I had a 12months free deal with one stop phone shop on O2 and was not entirely impressed so I was going to leave. I was offered 200 minutes and 200 texts at £30 per month with immediate credit to account of £240 if I didn't upgrade phone. Average £10 per month. No need to as very happy with phone. ShameI cracked screen 2 months later. Next time I hope to get similar deal but will hold out for new phone too. Especially as I now need to keep phone no.0
