  • be warned Three are good to get your business and happy to take your money but if things go wrong or you want to change tariff you will get a foreign speaking person on the phone who understands little english and is very rude. :money: I had many issues with them with regards to my upgrade despite them offering me a half price line rental deal they kept charging me full price and made out as if it was my fault. Also just 6 months in to my new contract my phone has broken and they will do nothing to help.
another problem I have come across was when my partner who's contact was due to expire in July received a call and negotiated a deal of £20.00pcm for 250 txts and 100 mins providing they kept the same phone. however on reflection and noticing that new customers get to receive a new phone plus 500 mins and unlimited txts for the same price, we decided some renegotiation was required. bearing in ming this new contract had not yet started the people we were speaking to were rude and obnoxious and refused to put us through to management. after several hours on the phone we managed to agree a new phone 100 mins and 150 txts for £17.00 for 12 months. I am not convinced that this was the best deal and frankly their attitude has left a sour taste. Three have now lost 2 excellant long term customers at next renewal and I do not recommend anybody use them
  • I tried this method back in July 2006 much before this article was published, My network was with Orange and due for an upgrade, for £35 O2 offered me 500 plus 200 text and a new k800i. so when i went back to Orange they said that they will mach this offer and gave me the same affer for a 12 months contract over the phone, i do a lot of business with people and i asked twice to make sure that it was a 12 monts contract, guess what, i have called them for an upgrade last month to only find out that they've put me on a 18 months and there is nothing ican do but write a letter that they did indeed ignore and not reply back, so my advice is make sure is they send you a written confirmation in black and white for all those good things that they are offerring, I strongly recommend that you do that and if you wanna close a deal over the phone just record that sale speech...

I have just been offered an upgrade deal with Vodafone-

    12 month contract
    225 cross network minutes
    250 texts
£12.50 per month (Will reduce my bills from current £45/month levels)

No new phone but still fairly happy with my K800i and if it breaks can hopefully claim on the phone insurance.

Is this a good deal or are there better ones out there?
  • Currently with o2 on 750 mins (off peak) + 750 text @ £25. This was the deal that I got when I agreed to an 18 month contract and my contract is nearly up.

I phoned them up, after phoning around and seeing what I could get elsewhere and they're offering me 600 mins anytime/any network, 1000 text and long weekends with unlimited texting or 2000 minutes (I'd be taking the minutes) at £30 a month for the first 12 months of an 18 month contract. Given that my call spend each month is about 800 mins and 600 texts and my bills have been £40-50+ for the past year consistently I was a little bit disappointed

I'm after a Sony Ericsson phone so she gave me a list of options, K800i, W610i, K810i. She left a note on my account as to what I'd been offered as I said I wanted to have a look at the phones, but having looked, I'm not keen on any of them - the SE phones I do want are with different providers.

What I want to know really, is does this sound like a good deal? What about other providers - the one-stop-shop ones? Are they any good? I had a friend who went through one of those and they went bust and they lost out and ended up paying a lot of money. Does this happen often?

THis is nothing new, i've been doing this the past few years

When i first got a contract from o2 it was 50mins and 300 texts for £25 a month. A year later i called up to cancel for a better deal, and they said if i wanted to keep my phone, they would give me £100 credit, and drop my bill to £10 a month. Effectively £20 a year+extra bills. They also upped my minutes to 100, and texts to 500.

The year after that i went back onto the £25 a month with a new phone, and 200 mins and 500 texts. I then got offered the same deal a year later.

I'm happy with the deal I get from o2 atm, a new phone every two years, and an average line rental of £14 a month over both years with 200 texts and 500 mins.

Not a bad deal i reckon!

Hi, 1st post so please be gentle

I am now in my last month of my o2 contract
I am after the nokia n95 phone but o2 only do this free on a £50 per month deal.
I have rang o2 3 or 4 times and keep getting the same answer.

They are offering me good deals in relation to free mins and texts but its the phone I am really after.
I currently pay £35 per month for 250 mins and 100 txts

I have found a deal online for a free n95 phone,750 mins 250 txts, plus free 1gb memory stick, 12 month contract this is the best deal I have found and I am tempted except I can't keep my existing number which I need to. This deal is on vodafone

o2 have sent me a pac code which I requested as the 1st o2 advisor said I can change onto another network keeping my number, however the site that are doing the deal state that I cannot keep my number I have had this confirmed by vodafone.

My real question is when I rang o2 i rang 202 from my phone and followed the options to cancellations, is this the retensions team or do I need to actually request to cancel to be put through

Thanks in advanced and apologies if this question has been covered before but I got blurry eyed reading many of the posts on this subject

    Keep up the good work

    regards

Thanks for that, i spotted them last night I have now got the deal I wanted with vodafone

    Thanks again
  • Just got off the phone with O2 Retentions.. Got 100 mins and 100 texts for £15 a month and a Nokia 6300!! Awesome! I called Customer Services earlier and they gave me nothing, telling me to go with their SIM-only deal but I called retentions direct and quoted a 3 tariff for £15 with a phone etc and the woman sorted me out - presto changeo! :-) Definite result. Oh and it was on a 12 month contract so I can renegotiate soon enough!

    First post time.

I've been with O2 for a few years now, originally on a £30 200 mins and 500 texts (double texts for online).

In November of last year, after taking advice from a friend at work, I was able to obtain a straight £15 discount. Happy bunny.

Recent problems with mms settings meant O2 had to change me to a new tariff - same as my old one but with 50 extra mins per month.

Bill just came, during the tariff switch they over charged me for some texts, so I kicked off (politely) and by the 13th August my new tariff will be 400 (x-net) mins and 1000 texts for £20 per month.

Come renewal time in October I will be looking for a new handset for free, retention of discount and likely some insurance - that will be a barganing chip for me I think!

I have to say, I have had a few problems with O2 service over the years, but these have ALWAYS been technical. Almost every member of staff in their CS or retentions departments have been very helpful

I find that being polite with them gets you the best deals - and ring mid morning, staff have woken up fully and their heads aren't pounding after listening to moaning customers all day!
