Hello everyone,
I got one of my best deal ever with Orange after haggling and 2 phone calls. I must say that I had a previous good deal also after haggling with
1200 min
Unlimited texts
1GB internet and BT wifi hotspot for about £15 to £17 a month
I have been with orange for more than 5 years so there is often a £5 off for customer's loyalty.
On the first call I got the following offers:
Galaxy S3
Unlimited calls
Unlimited texts
2GB data
on a 24 months contract for normal price of £27.99 knocked down to £23
or Galaxy S3 or Sony Experia Go ( I think) or Nokia Luminia 520
Unlimited calls
Unlimited texts
1GB data
on a 24 months contract for normal price of £21.99 knocked down to £16.99
or SIM only
2000 min
Unlimited texts
1.5GB data with customer loyalty (normally 500MB)
on a 12 months contract for £16.00
or SIM only
1000 min
Unlimited texts
750MB data with customer loyalty (normally 250MB)
on a 12 months contract for £11.00
or Samsung Fame
500 min
Unlimited texts
250MB data
on a 24 months contract for £11.99
I wanted to take one of this deal but thought I need to think about it carefully. So I said I will call back and took the person extension.
When I called back I had more questions after reading good deals on this forum. So I wanted to speak to the the person but thought I might as well haggle with the person I had on the phone now. So I explained what I got previously and said if they can add the BT openzone and London underground WiFi for free. And the person said no problem and as a matter of fact they can add these to all future deals. So always check these adds-on out with the customer representative you are talking to.
As I asked if she can add up more internet on the 750MB £11.00 deal, she said that with my customer loyalty I can actually got the £16 deal for £11. That was a surprise because the other person said he couldn't do that.
So the changes on the second phone call are:
SIM only
2000 min
Unlimited texts
1.5GB data with customer loyalty (normally 500MB)
on a 12 months contract for £16.00 knocked down to £11 with customer loyalty with BT openzone and London underground Wi-Fi.
SIM only
1000 min
Unlimited texts
750MB data with customer loyalty (normally 250MB)
on a 12 months contract for £11.00 knocked down to £6 with customer loyalty and BT openzone and London underground Wi-Fi.
I am quite happy with the deal I got which is
SIM only
2000 min
Unlimited texts
1.5GB data with customer loyalty (normally 500MB)
on a 12 months contract for £16.00 knocked down to £11 with customer loyalty with BT openzone and London underground Wi-Fi.
Good luck allLet's save money and God bless you:T.___________Private PCN issue? look for moneysavingexpert page, **NEWBIES!! PRIVATE PARKING TICKET?.... ** THANK YOU!0 -

Some great deals there! :j
I've been with orange for around 4 years & my contract ends on the 19th of December. I've just rang orange & the best deal they can do is £29pm for unlimited texts, calls & 1gb of data. Plus the phone would cost £20!
Is it just a case of having to ring up retention's many times untill someone gives a better deal?
Many thanks in advance!0 -

Well it often took me about a month of calls to Orange to get a good deal before. And it's not even thinking that I had to put on a fight every time to get what I wanted. It was such a big headache and so much stress. But this time round I just made two calls and it worked. :rotfl:
You shouldn't give up. I think what happen is they try to see the deals history or previous deal you had with them to set up the new deal they want with you. Basically the amount of money they want to make out of you. If you were in a high monthly payment they want to keep it that way and don't give you any room for negotiation at all to reduce the monthly payment; if it's not just a little like £2 to £5 reduction.
If you want to stay with Orange, you will need to be patient, write down all the better deals that their competitors have and mention that to them, tell them other people you know do get this particular deal and why not you, and basically break their price to the minimum possible.
At the moment I am in a situation where I get such a low deal that they can't really argue with me because I can just roll over with the same deal and it will still cost me just a little. Like if next year I don't get a good deal and I roll over I will just pay £16 instead of £11.
Good luck and don't give up.Let's save money and God bless you:T.___________Private PCN issue? look for moneysavingexpert page, **NEWBIES!! PRIVATE PARKING TICKET?.... ** THANK YOU!0 -
Thank you!

Believe me, I have done my homework on this over and over and over again. Best bet is to hook up to the WIFI and use Viber.
My current T-mobile plan has an add on, for £6 where I get 200 minutes to the USA and Canada. They no longer do this but I need a new phone!
Good luck!
O2 have a bolt on for pay monthly contracts, where you can pick 3 specific international numbers and receive 3000 minutes to call these numbers for just £10 per month.0 -

But are the international numbers fixed for the length of the contract?0 -
But are the international numbers fixed for the length of the contract?
You can change each of your International Favourites numbers once a month, and its a bolt on ,not a contract as such so you can leave when you like.

https://www.viber.com is also worth a try if you have smart phone and the person you are calling subscribes to it.
http://www.localphone.com/ is also worth looking at if you want to call numerous destinations at cheaper rates or if you just need to make the odd intl call.0 -
Been with Vodafone for years. Knew which phone I wanted. Cheapest I found in stores was over £30. Took advice re haggling. went from a £43 per month contract with extremely old phone to galaxy S4 mini with 600 mins unlimited texts and 500mb data for £17.50 per month. (exactly the same amount of mins, texts and data). Phone arrived next morning.
well chuffed0 -
So I am nearing the end of my contract and know what phone I wanted (Xperia Z1). I hunted online and around my town and £27 p/m was the best I could find and I was happy with that price to be honest.
I rang my current provider (Orange) twice and the first time the guy said that's a great deal, so here's your PAC code. The second time the lowest she could get it for me was £30.39 p/m with discount, that was after being on the phone for ages as well. I am a bit gutted to be leaving Orange, I've been with them for about 10 years, but hey they couldn't give me the right price. Off to Virgin Media I go...0
