A piece of advice for you first. Make sure you have plenty of time to talk to them, expect to spend a good few hours on the phone, this might sound like a lot, but it's usually worth it. They are always happy to phone you back if you ask. Also, make sure you spend the time talking to the correct department (the retentions department).

The deals I've been offered so far today:

    £11 for
    1000 minutes
    unlimited texts
    750 MB
    over 12 months

    £8 for
    Galaxy ace 2
    200 mins
    unlimited texts
    500 MB
    over 18 months

    £18.50 for
    Xperia SP
    900 minutes
    unlimited texts
    1.5 GB data
    unlimited openzone access
    15 photo messages
    over 18 months
(having just come off the same deal at £15.50 with Desire S)

I'm think that I may be able to get a slightly better deal with the Xperia.

It's also worth asking what else they can add on to your contract because often they can add things like openzone access and photo messages or 250 MG data etc.

    Happy hunting!

    Which network was this offer?

  • I can't say I've had any success. Been a business customer of T-Mobile for 10+ years. Due to the "Optimisation" of their masts (they are turning off the extra masts they don't "need" after the merger of Orange and T-Mobile) we don't get a signal at home. They promised a signal box 6 months ago, but this just keeps getting put back. I thought, ask for my PAC code and they would make an effort to keep me. Wrong! They made no effort whatsoever. Didn't even say "sorry" or "come back if it doesn't work out with the competition". Absolutely terrible customer service and zero interest in retention or customer loyalty. Will now be looking at a flexible company with a signal in the area. Giffgaff (02) or Lebara (Vodafone).

Not a like for like example, but I had a similar conv with Orange yesterday (same parent company!) where they made absolutely no attempt to keep me - giving me my PAC code within minutes of the conversation starting. They then phoned me this morning for 'feedback' and offered me a much better deal.

Might be worth staying by your phone!

Does anyone know of any network that may offer/include some international minutes to a contract at the re-negotiation stage?
  • I tried this earlier this morning. I read the contract I had with T-mobile and it says that if I want to leave, I have 30 days prior to leaving to warn them. My contract officially ends of the 21st November. However, I phoned them up and was told that I would have to pay to leave my contract early or for an early upgrade.

I discussed my options with them. Now that they are going to EE, they want more customers. I was offered 4 different deals. I had done my homework and looked at what I wanted in particular. An S4 and a tablet, such as was offered on Carphone Warehouse for the same prices.

My bills are expensive as I make a lot of international calls. Once the VAT etc... is added on, they can be between £2-300 a month. That, even though paid on time and by DD, was not good enough to get myself a deal with a tablet. If anything, the man on the phone said it went against my favour.

I haven't made up my mind yet, and I might take a walk to my local CW to see what they say or to sign up for their offer which works out cheaper than any he could offer me.

My only advice, do your homework. If there's something you want, go for it, but check out all the other options first. They might not be as good as you think they are, even when said to you in a cheery voice.
If all else fails, buy a new pair of shoes.

I have this same issue. EE do offer me their roaming package, however, it only works if you call the UK from abroad. I need to call the USA from the UK.
Believe me, I have done my homework on this over and over and over again. Best bet is to hook up to the WIFI and use Viber.
My current T-mobile plan has an add on, for £6 where I get 200 minutes to the USA and Canada. They no longer do this but I need a new phone!

    Good luck!

  • Hi
I've been with Orange for years and normally renew my contract over the phone, where they allow you 7-14 days to send the handset back if you don't like it and change it for something else.
This year, I went into the EE-ORange store to upgrade my (dying)handset and get a new 2yr contract.
I couldn't really test the Samsung mini S4 instore, but it seemed ok in size and function.
I got home and started using the internet and sent an email, it became apparent that the screen and print is too small for my use. Thinking I could take it back and swap it for the full size S4, i was told "Not allowed" once the IME number been assigned to me that's it- until contract ends. So I'm stuck with a phone I can't really use well. I can't see anything in the contract I've signed that states this despite speaking with the store manager. I can understand you can't cancel a contract unless you pay £££s to get out of it. I don't know what to do. Can't afford to buy a new phone in addition to this. Ironically the big S4 would be £8-9 more per month. Still said no to exchanging it.
    Is this right???

    That's the issue^

The store don't give the 14 day cooling off period. Only phone and online per DSR.

If you really want to save money then don't take a phone upgrade. If you have a functional phone, when your contract ends switch to a discounted, sim only contract. If your phone breaks down or is lost then phone up and ask for a handset package.
My iphone 4 is going strong after 2.5 years but my bill is cut from £32 to £15 with more minutes, texts and internet then I could get through.
