Customer service doesn't equate to getting a better deal. The two issues are quite separate; though if you REALLY want to experience awful customer service you should move to Vodafone or Orange.

Been with Virgin for ages and 2 years ago changed to a £10 a month sim only deal when I decided to buy a phone as they didn't do the model I wanted.t c

So replacing my phone today (with a model Virgin don't do as part of a contract again) and I ring up Virgin mobile saying I can't decide whether to buy it outright and stick with the sim only or change providers and get the phone included.

2 minutes later nice man comes back and says he can half the price! So £5 a month rolling contract for unlimited data and texts and 250 minutes :j(was previously the same but capped at 1GB data). He also sent it out couriered (usual price £2.99) at no cost so should be with me tomorrow to go in my new phone.

    Very happy chap here
  • I initially started with a SIM only contract for iPhone 4s for £21 per month [rolling 30 day] contract with O2 [unlimited texts, unlimited calls and 1GB of data], then in the last six months due to changes in the contract O2 increased my monthly charges to £28 per month, for some reason the loyalty discount I was provided expired [which I am still unclear as to how they could do this]. I checked on the uSwitch website and found that Virgin were offering £15 for SIM only, rolling 30 day contract, unlimited texts, unlimited calls and 2GB of data. When I told O2 I wanted to leave as they had failed to reward my loyalty and in addition I quoted better offers by Virgin/Vodafone, they immediately [I provided the website for the sales rep to check - which she did!] offered me £15 per month for a 12 month contract for unlimited calls, texts and 1GB of data - as my data usage doesnt even hit my max usage, not having 2GB wasnt a deal breaker for me. Definitely haggle - my 5 minute call has saved me £156 - Thank you Martin!!:money:

OK, so I've been with O2 for at least 6 years, maybe 8, and they won't budge.

My contract is up in about a month, maybe 6 weeks. I'm currently paying £38.85 for my iphone 4s, with 600 minutes and 750mb of data. Vodaphone have a free 32gig 5s with unlimited minutes unlimited texts and 1000mb of data for £37, but O2 won't match that because it's on moneysupermarket.com and not a high street chain. So do I ditch 'em and go to vodaphone or have 1 more crack at it? Any opinions or advice will be greatfully received.

Is that with mobiles phones direct?
They are cheap but I have been very wary of using then after reading their reviews online.
I would be interested in how you get on if you can post back and let me know cheers
  • I'm currently on Three, paying £34 a month for 2000 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data, with an iPhone 4S. My contract has finished so I want to upgrade to an iPhone 5S but they told me that they can't offer me ANY upgrade deals, and ones guy (I've rung multiple times) even told me that all phone companies can no longer afford to offer their customers decent upgrade deals anymore.

They're offering me unlimited data and texts, and 600 minutes for £40 a month on the iPhone 5S for £41, which is just what new customers get, so obviously I'm a bit annoyed that they're not offering any discounts to existing customers. I've spend about two hours on the phone to them, and even got through to cancellations and got a PAC code to cancel my account with- despite talking to the cancellations woman for quite a while she said that she couldn't offer me any deal cheaper than those which are offered to new customers.

So it really seems as if Three don't offer 'upgrades' as such anymore- just new contracts. Anyone know anything about this?

Had the same thing myself avantguarddog. Due an upgrade and after a couple of hour long calls to them, I told them to cancel the contract.

Sick of hearing how cutting edge a Galaxy S4 is. You'd honestly swear they hadn't realised the S5 is out and that an S4 is almost 2 years old in terms of technology. It's samsung's answer to the iPhone 5 and you can get those cheap as chips at the minute.

Sick of hearing the people on the other side of the phone spin out long, drawn out reasons "their brother", "a friend" or just plain "down to personal experience" wouldn't recommend me going elsewhere.

Sick of being offered the exact same offers they'll hand out to anyone who walks in off the high street but making it sound like it's the bees knees!

If they want to keep customers, they're going to have to do better.
  • Negotiated my T-Mobile bill down today. Thought I'd check to see when my contract was up, turns out I'd been on a rolling contract for 4 months. Was paying £15.84pm, took 5 minutes as I quoted the Giff Gaff plan I was going to move to (do your research as it shows you're serious!) and they reduced it down to £10.49 on a 12 month deal. Definitely adding a calendar reminder this time around.

Circa £62pa saving - Not bad for 5 minutes.

Ok so my contract with three ends today. I rung them upfor my Pac code and after a lengthy conversation with the initial assistant offering deals that I didn't want to accept, I finally got through to cancellations. They have now offered me SIM only deals on 600mins, 5000 texts and 1gb internet for £9.90 on a one month rolling contract or £14 per month for unlimited everything including internet and tethering on a 12 month contract. The other option was a handset contract with a Nokia 520 with 300 mins 5000 texts and 500Mbs of data on a 2 year contract for £8 per month. I haven't accepted any of the above yet and insisted on getting my Pac code in the hope that they may ring me with an even better offer as they did when I played this game last time around. Do you think I am being unrealistic? What are the best deals others have had from three recently? Which of the above do you think is the better value? I've been.with three now for 8 years now and found thEm to be very good on coverage and price I also really like the unlimited data add on For £3 and now three are giving same allowances when abroad in certain countries as when at home. I usually go for SIM only deals as I have a newish handse that is unlocked to any network. The think that is in the back of my mind is a deal offered with talk talk mobile which is £5 per month for 1gb data 500 mins and unlimited texts on a 12 month contract. Please give your thoughts on this. Am I being unrealistic. Decision decisions...
