If there is a '3' mobile telephone signal, it should work and no, you don't need a telephone line.

Is this sim a typical sim for voice calls?

Yes it is. If you go over the 25mb then the charge is £2 per MB !!! - only found that out when trying to answer a question from bargains83 above (thanks for making me look into this) - So I guess I'll be looking to take my chances and get a Vodafone 3G sim off ebay.
  • I ordered mine on Sunday, and still havent recieved it being Thursday! Is this normal or wont it be coming?

    Thanks people

I have some Virgin Sims that came with credit, would these work? What dial number, APN etc did you use?

Also, do they charge you 30p every day or just the days you use it?
Anyone looking for occassional light usage may want to consider using a Virgin Mobile Pay as you go SIM.

This works great in my unlocked USB dongle (using the instructions in this thread) and Virgin only charge £0.30 per day for up to 25MB of usage. I know that 25MB isn't much but it's enough for me to check my email and a few web pages occassionally. Speed is good as well as long as you're in a 3G reception area.

Blast! Just went to order a second dongle under the wife's name and I got this message 'We are not able to validate your account. Please contact-us'

Has anyone else had this? Can't see why this should be a problem as the terms did state 1 per applicant.
