Is it possible to connect these dongles to a laptop that has wifi and create a wifi hotspot ?

If so, how can this be done ?

Nice to see non-Windows fans pile in. Yes, for a computer to be a Personal Computer (PC) it needs Windows. That's not to say other 'systems' don't have features people like but it doesn't make them proper and when I say proper I mean popular. Popular because they work and there's a massive selection of [working] applications out there.

And yes, if being ignorant means I like things to work and don't want to spend my life not being able to use popular applications, then it is indeed bliss. Nothing wrong with that.

If anyone get this to work, please report back - I tried and never got it to.

Wish there were the Windows equivalent of Joikuspot for mobiles to make this 'just work'.

    The links OK now.

The guide states you need a "Wired net connection" (ethernet).

Has anyone got it to work with a USB broadband dongle ?

Ignoring the current banter - if anyone is having difficulty ordering a second dongle, why not get an O2 one from Littlewoods Direct for £10 + p+p using ZG007 (£10 off when you spend £10) which comes out at £3.78. You could also go thru Quidco.

Thanks Barginunter...just ordered one from Littlewoods for £3.73 delivered. It's due to be delivered tomorrow. These 02 modems come as factory unlocked and I've already downloaded the generic firmware from the internet so that any sim can be used. Ordered my 3dongle4free modem last Tuesday and still no sign of it. The first attempt to pay didn't run through (the usual "already validated" message). I had to phone them 3 times - to get the voucher code and to query the "already validated|" status, since I didn't receive the email. Going to have to phone them again after the modem arrives, since they've billed me twice for it (presumably taking payment after the first "already validated" attempt, which they assured me on the phone would not happen). I doubt they'll send me 2, but you never know. Only the second, successful, attempt got through to an order confirmation, although I still didn't receive any confirmation emails.
