My husband and I are both 34 and have been together since we were 13. I LOATHE his mother but his Dad is ok.

We dont involve them with anything we do as his mum is an evil woman! I honestly believe we are stronger as a couple because we have no dealings with her or his family.

There are totally valid reasons for this though, which I wont go into on an open forum.

Now, his mum drives him nuts when she comes to ours. 'I can do that myself' cue 60 seconds later and he's not done it '!!!!!! will you just leave it, I said I will do it when I'm ready'.

I just sit there and silently snigger to myself - and think about how my roast dinners are sooooooooooooooooo much better than hers according to OH and FIL :rotfl:

    :rotfl:

My OH was never lazy, he could always do stuff for himself because he was that sort of person but she always wanted to wait on him hand and foot, and then would moan about it after...a classic martyr.

When she visits us, I can visibly see it 'peeing her off'' that OH is so capable around the house, and that I don't have to do absolutely everything for him, she makes little comments. I have learnt to bite my tongue now, we get on fine and I do that for my OH. But I do find it quite sad for her actually, you would think she would be happy that her son was happy....go figure.

My OH works really hard so I don't give him a hard time if he doesn't pick after himself, I do it if I've got time or he'll get it done eventually (this will have to change when bubba comes along though!)

I must admit MIL does moan when BIL brings home 10 black bags of washing from uni - so I tell her to leave him to do it himself. 2 days later it's washed, dried. ironed and put away for him. He'll never learn.

Lou - poor you. I've just got rid until June when we go to them!

Well, it has been nearly 3 months since her last visit, so a nice break. :D She wants to buy a place down here cos she loves it on the south coast and wants me to help her!

I need to come up with a good sabotage plot. :rotfl:

I think now if I had just kept my mouth shut, it would have blown over but I didn't. Instead OH was angry with me for starting an argument when I should have laughed it off and walked away

Equally, FIL could have apologised - he didn't HAVE to argue with you. He's old enough to know better :rotfl:

Who do mums do the washing for boys at uni? Do they think boys are incapable of finding their way to a laundrette?

I went to uni first, and mum never offered to do my washing but when my brother went she took it for granted that she'd be doing it, and he didn't complain, lazy toad lol!

God, MIL said that about moving near us! 4 hours is plenty close enough thanks!

Oh, I agree but he's very stubborn. He eventually apologised about 18 hours after the event! He's twice my age!

Mine never did for mine and my only brother still lives at home!
Funnily enough, she never did OH's but that was probably because I made him do it himself!

Yes, but she has been going about doing this for about 2 years, how she is miserable where she is and how she wants to move down here. There is nothing stopping her, she has a £350k house with a £20k mortgage. She is someone that likes to moan about things when you see her so she gets sympathy and advice...yes I do give her sympathy and advice, I'm not that bad....:D but she never acts on it. So it gets a bit tiresome when you keep hearing the same old thing every time you see her. OH gets really annoyed, when she starts moaning, he leaves the room and lets me deal with her!
