Then you obviously didn't bother reading what you signed up to. It's always quite clearly mentioned at the point of order.
  • Just received my new mobile today from mobiles.co.uk

First thing I did earlier was to go to saynoto0870.com type in the 0844477XXXX number and dialed a 01373XXXXXX number as listed on there and told them I wanted to cancel. I received an email from them within two hours confirming they had cancelled the direct debit instruction.

Next thing I went back to saynoto0870.com with the 0870XXXXXXX number for the insurance and was given a 01708XXXXXX number to dial, I told them I wanted to cancel the guy said I would receive confirmation in the post within 7 days. If I dont after 10 days I will chase it up, well still within trial period.

You can cancel the insurance on-line on the CPW site itself provided you can find your way round the system.
  • Having just done my banking, I see that I too have fallen in to this trap.

however, cancelled the d/d online with my bank then followed this post to the gadget helpline cancellation page.

If you are going to do this too the reference number that is asked for can be found on your bank statement as the d/d ref minus the last 3 numbers.

Hope this will help someone else
  • I too noticed £20.94 debited from my account from tmti didnt have a clue what it was for so immediatly cancelled direct debit, anyways googled the company name and contacted them via phone and cancelled the contract there and then.

e2save and TMTI are still at it.I have recently bought a SIM-only card from e2save and was surprised to see a charge of £20.94 from TMTI a month later.I did read the small print in The Welcome Pack I received from e2save and it says that the VIP Gadget Helpline cover is for HANDSETS bought from e2save.As I did not buy a HANDSET I did not cancel the unwanted contract from TMTI within 30 days. Both e2save and TMTI say tough luck. If I was mugged in the street for £20 I would call the police - e2save and TMTI seem to have a licence to mug online.

I have managed to cancel the TMTI contract but I seem to have lost the £20.94 to TMTI.

Sorry to hear that. They tried to rob me, very sneaky and I was honestly livid - like someone else was. So I messaged them and will get a full refund (20.94). Maybe you can email them the part where it says it wouldn't be relevent to you? If you've not, I think it's a case of you having to show them you know what your talking about. I think that's their game.

I think their trying off profit people who won't fight them, or won't point out their bs.

I find it incredible, that ok, you can cancel and they send a letter of cancellation BUT if you don't tell your bank, they'll assume you've changed your mind. I find that amazingly and i'd threaten court action if they didn't give me my money back.

But I was lucky. It takes 10 days to refund but at least I have the proof -exhales- Merry Xmas Everyone!!
  • Thank you for your support Marcus31. I have told them about me not buying a handset but have not heard back from them. I think that they are now checking their own small print as they are not sure what it says - and they expect us to?

Is this a "simple" mistake or are their systems set to catch out the customer.Silly really because if they had made it clear on the one page order confirmation that they had a special offer on with TMTI that I could have a free trial on before opting in I may have signed up with them! Are they really clever or just plain stupid?
  • Since you can ask about gadgets not purchased once you have a policy they can easily argue that it was relevant provided it was made clear at the point of sale; it always is with normal contracts and (since many come and hear and claim it wasn't even though it always is and from the numerous other assumptions made by the comments above) I expect it would be with a sim only contract as well. People who don't read what is under their noses and click away are asking for what they end up with. I order a LOT of contracts over the internet and am always perfectly aware that you are forced to take the 2 trials and equally ensure that they are duly cancelled. It takes on phone call lasting 30 seconds in my repeated experience.
