I phoned TMTI to claim a refund and cancel the direct debit (01373 839416) and they effectively told me to get lost and raise an indemnity claim with my bank so I did. It's EASY. Phone your bank, say you want to raise an indemnity claim. The bank refunds your money immediately then pursues TMTI for the money. I'll see how this goes and report back. I also reported TMTI to the ombudsman too (01925 430049). Good luck.
  • These kind of co's (especially TMTI) should be outlawed .

They are predatory co's, you are forced into signing upto them whenever you purchase a new deal, no opt out option (which I think in itself should be illegal).

Then they say they'll send you an email with the details to cancel which of course they never send. For my families last 3 contracts this email 'miraculously" never arrived where all the other emails (phone order) came through just fine.

Very shady co that simply relies on people forgetting to cancel a next to useless service for the majority of people. But as the CPW make money from it, they'll still keep doing it. No matter how many complaints they get. Shame on the CarphoneWarehouse!

Someone should start up a complaints page or survey to outlaw these practices. They should also be reported to watchdog.

blog dot the helpline dot com shows ther error as in title....

what a rip off. Ive only just ordered my moby from 'dial-a-phone' and Im already thinking it was a big mistake, especially from a company that seems so liggit. (?)

Surely it should be an option to have help with gadgets.
if you're buying a smart phone, you shouldnt need help with gadgets!!!. most of the manuals for smartphones/mobiles are PDF or online anyway thesedays.

You should have a reference number from TMTI Gadget Helpline. This is sent to you when you take out a contract.

You can then use that to cancel your gadget helpline here https://secure.tmti.net/vip/

Enter the reference number, the bank account number on account and your email address.

If done in first 30 days of contract, you do not incur a charge. After that it is 30 days notice.

Great post, couldn't cancel through their 'website' as it wouldn't load and was worried until I saw this. Thanks

Unfortunately I noticed this scam after the 30 day free period was up. Does this mean I am going to be charged the £18.30 for a service I have never used AND a "minimum £5 admin fee" for cancelling?! I have already cancelled the DD through my bank, but will this affect my credit rating if they try to take their £5 admin fee? I am loathe to pay even more for cancelling a service I didn't ask for or use.

PS. for any previous posters who condone this practice, wasn't PPI sold under similar auspices? Now look what is happening.
  • Yes. It's costing US a fortune in taxpayers' money to compensate all the idiots who didn't bother to look at what they were signing.
  • Have just found out that TMTI ltd have been taking £14.33 out of my account every 6 months for phone insurance i'm pretty sure I didn't ask for. It was my son's phone and was taken out in 2007 (18 mth contract). I would say partly my fault for not checking my account but surely they cannot keep taking money after the phone contract has finished? Has anyone on here successfully managed to get their money refunded? I have read that this company covers Dial-a- phone, E2Save, Geek Squad and who knows how many more?? :(
  • I've used mobile junkie before for purchasing stuff. Not now, you conceited bunch of !!!!!!, perhaps if you tied insurance into the length of the contract you would be more approachable to extend services if needed, instead, you hope and prey that consumers forget so you can keep fleecing money from them!!

Nah... we do. Though that's because I don't let them take a single pound more than they should because I actually read what I'm clicking on and regularly check my bank statements and I also ensure they pay me what they should (and they do).

Not sure any of the people I order for would make such comments; besides, they all still do ask me to order for them - and I ensure they never pay for things like TMTI.
