No, the Lloyds TSB Scotland brand name will disappear within the next 2-3 years, to be replaced by Bank of Scotland. So in England and Wales Lloyds TSB and Halifax will run alongside each other for now, in Scotland there will just be Bank of Scotland, and in Northern Ireland there will just be Halifax (no LTSB).
I don't know if Lloyds TSB products will move across to Halifax (or vice versa) though.
There's been nothing confirmed that the Lloyds TSB brand will disappear in the next 2 -3 years and be replaced by Bank of Scotland.
Its all rumours at the moments.0 -

No, the Lloyds TSB Scotland brand will disappear. That has been confirmed see the following, taken from here:Over time, the Bank of Scotland and Lloyds TSB Scotland businesses will be integrated, and Bank of Scotland will become our main high street brand in Scotland for personal and business customers.
and this link sets out the timescale:Bank of Scotland will be the banking brand for the combined Group in Scotland, for both retail and corporate customers. The integration of Bank of Scotland and Lloyds TSB Scotland businesses will extend over a two to three year period.0 -
I stand corrected... Never noticed the announcement!0

I mentioned on an earlier thread that the Bank of Scotland name would not disappear ( in my opinion ) as they have the right to issue banknotes in Scotland and this right was issued to them in their name only. Which means, if they change their name, they would lose the right to issue banknotes and also lose the prestige ( and free advertising ! ) that goes with it.
LloydsTSB/HBOS titled banknotes? doesn't sound quite catchy somehow0 -
Hi folks,
I was in one of the Cooperative Bank branches today and asked the staff about the switch from Visa Electron to Visa Debit for Cashminder accounts.
Unfortunately the staff never knew anything about it but there hoping the branch manager has some information when he returns from a meeting.
After that i double checked the information with the call centre and once again the initial operator i spoke to never knew anything about the change but she went and checked with the relevant department and they have confirmed its definately happening, although this time i wasn't given a date, its going to be an ongoing process.
With regards to the mention of the 8 June 2009 being the date of the change i would hang fire as it may be longer.....
Lets see what happens on the 8 June 2009 anyway!0 -
I am RAGING as I opened this Cashminder Account purely for booking cheap seats on budget airlines! It does seem good news for others that seem to be wanting the other Visa debit card. However I am at a loss now how to get cheaper fees. I am with ABBEY and HBOS for my main accounts so might phone the helpline and ask to be downgraded to the Electron. It makes me think though, these banks must have thousands of accounts where the only thing that happens on them a few times each year is a deposit and then a debit to www.ryanair.com!!!!!!!
On another note. I had a spare £50 recently in my Visa electron account with the Co-Op and paid this on-line to British Gas toward my fuel bill. It took seven days for my available balance with the Co-Op to be zero. Therefore I could have withdrew this £50 at a service till after making the payment. So I think, the instant authorisation thing with these cards does depend on the merchant.
If I had made the payment to BG. Then two days later withdrew the cash from the bank, I would have overdrawn by £50 and gotten bank charges. So for this reason I think this may be why they are moving the cards to the other visa debit card. It will bring in more charges to the banks. An easy way to make money! Not the banks problem if the till in the shop or on-line shop does not call for authorisation and reserve the money! That will become the card holders problem. Maybe I am wrong, but it's food for thought.0 -
I'm going to suspect the chip will force the authorisation on-line, should that request not be met it will use the fallback state, which will be decline.
This data can be carried in the stripe to force chip use where possible, however abroad this might fail, but then terminal abroad are often forced online when a non-local card is used. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -
why dont you buy one of their gift vouchers and use that on your flights. that way your not paying for the debit card fees?Barclays: 3900/4200
