Co-op Cashminder debit card changes to VISA Debit from June

I've just got my card today... its an Electron!!! Bit naffed off now as I've already got an Electron with Halifax - I only opened the dam account cos I thought I would get the Visa Debit!!!

Applied today by Telephone for a Cashminder account and was told when the account is opened (Not until next week as it has been referred), that I might get an Electron card OR Visa Debit card, so it seems it is not guaranteed as she said Debit cards were issued to 'Some' customers ?. I will report back on what I get.

i have never received any documentation relating to new cashcards now being visa debit cards rather than visa electron card

if you are looking for a visa debit card then you should apply for a barclays cashcard account which does issue visa debit cards

I had to speak to Customer Services today (as I'm using my card outside the country next week). I also brought up the fact that I'd been told I would receive a Visa Debit card, but had been sent another Electron card. The bloke knew exactly what I was talking about (with regards to the new cards being available) and said they'd sent an Electron by mistake.

He said he'd order me a Visa Debit, but time will tell.

Hi folks,

Just spoke with a really helpful lass at the Cooperative Bank her name was Nicola.

I asked her for an update re the change over from Visa Electron to Visa Debit for Cashminder Account Customers.

She checked with the Card Operations team at the bank who have now confirmed that as of Friday 12 June 2009 it is now possible to get the Visa Debit Card on the Cashminder Account.

Nicola has ordered me the Visa Debit Card and it should be with me in the next 3-4 days.

Anybody that wants there card changed from Visa Electron to Visa Debit can now give them a call to do this.

My brother is a co op cashminder customer with a visa electron card.

The customer advisor "Nicola" said she can order me the new Visa Debit Card.

I called the bank to double check that my sort code and account number would not change and to double check that it was a Visa Debit Card and the advisor confirmed it was a Visa Debit Card on order and the sort code and account number would not change.

My brothers just rang up the advisor "Robyn" didnt know anything about it at first. But put my brother on hold and checked with a manager. Came back after being on hold for 5 mins and said if he was to order a card now he would get a visa debit instead as they are not issuing electron cards anymore and confirmed his PIN would be the same.

I'll update the thread when i get the new card to confirm its a Visa Debit.

I was also told the pin number would remain the same.

Just phone up the lady know the cashminder acc. come with visa debit card without cheque guarantee now and l request replacement card ,should be with me five working days.Just wait to see .Thanks mate
